Few years old now but what do you reckon - fact, fiction or written in folklore? Re: Get on....PARADE! Not at all comparable to some of the comical stuff revealed so far but an amusing little tale witnessed some years back during the HM golden anniversary event in the capital, culminating in the grand parade along the Golden Mall mile. We were in amongst the milling crowds crushed behind the barriers and unbeknown to me, the missus and her mate had been eye-lining this young copper who was standing the other side of the barrier, supposedly scanning the watching throngs. They eventually told the rest of us that this lad 'didn't seem to be looking too well' and he could…

A reminder for anyone interested that on BBC One tonight at 2100 is 'Harry's Arctic Heroes', where the Prince joins four injured Afghan war veterans: Captain Martin Hewitt, Private Jaco Van Gass, Captain Guy Disney and Sergeant Stephen Young, on an expedition across the Arctic to raise money for 'Walking with the Wounded'. Should be good.

Realising they had never received a donation from the city's most successful solicitors a Salvation Army volunteer made an appointment to see the senior partner in his lavish office. The volunteer opened the meeting by saying, "Our research shows that even though your annual income is over two million pounds, you don't give a penny to charity. Wouldn't you like to give something back to your community through the Salvation Army?" The lawyer thought for a moment and said, "First, did your research also show you that my mother is dying after a long, painful illness and has huge medical bills that are far beyond her ability to pay?" Embarrassed, the Salvation Army volun…

Can you take a look at this link? http://www.kirstyskids.org/index.php?id=15 A mate of mine (ex-job Northern Constabulary) is doing a round the UK ride, using the roads closest to the Coast. He left the West coast of Scotland about a week ago, and is now in Suffolk. Any support, be it physical, moral or fiscal would be greatly appreciated, especially if it is just to ride a few miles with him. At the present time he is sleeping where he stops; in some cases this has been in a tent at the roadside. You can't miss him. He looks like a cross between Hagrid and Billy Connolly, and is on a 125cc machine, with a large stuffed Eyeore donkey on the pillion. He should stick …

29 straight years of improvements. Brilliant. By the time my offspring take their exams, mere attendance will be enough to pass. If only it was the same in the real world.........it'll also be handy if you could get your parents to do your work for you too......... How do the universities know who to take when so many achieve the same grade? You'd have to think that the 2.something percent who don't pass must be really, really poor at exams. Or thick. Although I'm guessing that there will be a percentage who just don't take the exams through sickness, apathy, truancy, or whatever........... When I did exams we never knew what was going to be in them............do …

Hope it is appropriate to post this here. Every organisation except charities has a proper ombudsman or other external regulator. Please sign and circulate if you feel able to support this campaign. If we get 100,000 signatures the issue should be debated in parliament. http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/645 Create a Charities Ombudsman Responsible department: Cabinet Office This petition calls on the government to create a Charities Ombudsman with the power to deal with complaints about charities and the authority to order a charity to provide adequate redress if a complaint is upheld.. The Charity Commission is unable to get involved in a wide ra…
