Just a heads up really, for anyone interested, is this documentary made by Chris Terrill, an ex Royal himself, accompanying L Company of 42 Commando in Helmand. The first one was shown last Monday and I believe is still available on catch up (although don't quote me on that) and the second episode is this Monday (6th) at 2100. Not all action but an eye-opener to the dirty tactics of the Taliban and a great insight into life out there with some humorous moments. Royal Marines: Mission Afghanistan

Did anyone else watch this? It's a documentary following the Nottinghamshire police as they set up 'capture houses' around the city, in an effort to fight back against the burglars. Kitting the rooms out with SmartWater, hidden cameras, and suchlike, the footage they capture of burglaries in progress is fascinating viewing (especially during the interviews when the DP's get to see themselves on film - the officer's faces are an absolute picture!) If you didn't see the programme, you can catch it here on iPlayer - it's well worth it!

Did anyone see the programme on Channel 4 last night, about a firm in Newport, Wales? Reminded me of the old days (10 years ago, that is), with the attitude of those filmed. The only thing that showed it was modern times was the fact they were wearing "combat" gear, rather than the white shirts, black trousers and overcoats of those days. What a bunch of throwbacks.

Dear all, Please note email below and the links, Statement from Director of the 2011 Census, Glen Watson, Friday 27 January 2012. Email Scam We are aware that an email entitled 'Population Census: a message to everyone - act now' is being circulated, allegedly in the name of National Statistician, Jil Matheson. This email demands individuals provide further personal information, supposedly for the Census and threatens fines for non-compliance. This email is a scam and a hoax. It has no connection whatsoever with the National Statistician, the 2011 Census or the Office for National Statistics. We believe the links in the email could download malware to any computer wh…

One of the criticisms of the police in recent times has been the poor levels of literacy of some officers. Much of this criticism is quite unfair - the critics forget that reports and statements are often composed after a long shift, in a hurry, and in the small hours of the morning while in a noisy police station, the back of a police car, or on some grotty kitchen table in a hovel. Similarly, I teach undergraduates and graduates in my job, and many of these fall short when it comes to spelling, vocabulary, grammatical accuracy and correct punctuation. Nevertheless, officers often don't do themselves any favours - here are a few typical examples: "he was laid in bed"…

I found this on Topgear.com It's done by a French Comedian called Remi, he did a massive Mario cart stunt not too long ago. This video put a massive smile on my face, I almost felt a bit sorry for him when the French Police got him, however he was stood in places he shouldnt be.
