Hi all Where I live which is in Blackpool in all the home bargain shops there is a cardboard cut out of a male met policeman just sort of standing there at the entrance. Today i was in Manchester and saw that the shops there had a south yorkshire policeman cardboard cutout in the window. Just wondering if anyone knows why cause I cant really see the point to be honest!

Please BE WARNED! Over the last month I have become a victim of a clever 'Eastern European' scam while out shopping. Simply dropping into Tescos for a bit of shopping turned out to be quite an experience. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends. Here's how the scam works: Two seriously good-looking voluptuous 20-21 year-old girls come over to your car as you are packing your shopping into the boot. They both start cleaning your windscreen, their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. When you thank them and offer them a tip, they'll say 'No' and instead ask you for a lift to another supermarket store, in my case, Sainsburys…

Dear Friends, I apologise for sending out my message a day late this week but yesterday was not only incredible busy but it was also a very special day for us as we said goodbye to someone I describe as "Mr Merton". Supt Pete Dobson retired yesterday after 35 years in the MPS, the last 12 of which have been serving the public and communities of Merton. Pete is a one-off in so many ways. He is respected by politicians, police officers, public and partners but above all else he is a true gentleman. Thank you to everyone who came along to see him off yesterday. We formed a guard of honour for Pete outside Wimbledon Police Station and clapped him in as he came back to the s…

When Remembrance Day comes around it always brings back memories of our old friend, Ranroz, aka Charles Walbran, who died of cancer a few years back. Charles fought tirelessly for the 55,573 men of Bomber Command who died in WW2, to be remembered with a memorial. He went to a lot of trouble(even though he was suffering with cancer, and was having chemo) to sell those 'Blue Wrist bands', to raise money towards the Memorial in London. He managed to enlist the help of one of the Bee Gees to further the cause. He managed to sell me three just a week before he died and still maintained his sense of humour, I PM'd him to say why would I want three, I only have two wris…

Came across this video after watching the Joshua GMP Gangnam Style one, linked further down in the locker room. Pretty good at getting in on trends these days, even in Sweden! One thing, does anyone else agree that we should really have those High Vis's in Scotland at the change over? Really missed a trick here, we should be the "Polis"...

I hope you will all forgive the passionate plea, especially in a time when money is tight and everyone seems to be asking for a few quid here and there. However could I ask you please to at least read and give consideration to this cause? Charlie is the son of two coppers previously from the UK who emigrated to Australia 5 years go... he is now terminally ill and has between 3-12 months to live. We are desperately trying to raise £4,000 to get him and his family flights back to the UK before he becomes too sick to travel, to allow him to see and say goodbye to his extended family. If you can give just a couple of quid, or the price of your next pint and choose a Coke in…

A story in our local paper this week caught my eye. A Jewish family has a six-year-old boy with a medical condition which is likely to drastically shorten his life and they were trying to save some money to take him to Disneyland Paris. It didn't take them long to accumulate the money as people were generous. One donation, amounting to just over £300 was made anonymously but the parents wanted to make sure that they sent all donors a letter of thanks. They did a bit of detective work and, to their astonishment, this money to send a poorly Jewish boy to Disneyland had come from from a whip round made at the local mosque. Almost restores your faith in human nature, dunni…
