So I have had my laptop for about 4 years now and it has done fairly well to avoid too many problems. It is now however getting quite slow. How hard is it to format a hard drive? Is this my best option? Have others done it? What problems can I expect? cheers Gelf

Hello all... I have been trying to sort out my mother-in-laws new laptops today. Both are brand new and are on Windows 8 and we are having major problems trying to use the Internet. We have managed to finally get Google Chrome on by downloading it onto my laptop and using a memory stick to transfer it as the Internet on both laptops was too slow to download it. If I access a website on my laptop which is windows 7, it loads immediately. If I try it on either windows 8 laptop, and on any browser it takes forever; an opening a PDF online takes hours. I use Win7 64-bit Ultimate and often I'll ask it to 'sleep' so it powers off but can power back up quickly. A week or so ago it started having trouble waking up properly - the mouse cursor would be extremely laggy, pressing Alt-Ctrl-Del would take up to 30 seconds to do anything, it wouldn't want to shut down properly, etc. etc. etc. I've not updated any drivers recently (I keep my video drivers up to date but last update was last month). Windows Updates are automatic however and they install when they want to. Any ideas what might be causing this? Hi all - my Mrs has a new Dell desktop (Intel Core i5, 4Gb, Win8 64-bit) and it is PAINFUL when printing (HP DeskJet D2600). On her previous WinXP PC the printer behaved impeccably. So on Win8, I'm trying to print a 2 page document (only small, 57k according to the print manager) and it's been in the queue for 25 minutes now and not a peep from the printer. I have installed the latest HP driver suite for Win8 so I know the drivers are up to date. And the HP software reports that the printer is ready and it reports the ink levels okay. Anyway, I got stick of waiting after 25 minutes now and I tried deleting the job in the queue, then I tried stopping and starting t…

I admin a Facebook page that I access through my personal Facebook account. However I want to use it as a stand alone page now, separate e-mail login. Does anyone know how this is done as I can't find any subject on it in Facebook help. Or is it impossible to do? Cheers

Ok, So I'm in the market for a new PC and would ideally like it to come from Overclockers (heard all good things about them!) I've got around £700 to spend, although change would be lovely as I'd love to upgrade my Macbook Pro whilst I'm at it... Main use - gaming. GTA IV with the Police Add-on (LCPD FR) Specs for this are; If possible, Min of i5 and at least 4gb memory, hard drive size isn't a huge issue as I mostly use dropbox for files and spotify for music, so would only really be for software. Anyone help?

It appears my email has been hacked, I have a whole load of delivery notification failures and it appears to have sent out a load of spam links to my contacts - yet there is nothing in my sent box? I got a security warning from hotmail presumably because of this and had to change my password. I'm quite confused as to how it could be hacked as it's a long password (over 10 digits) with letters numbers and characters which is pretty unique. Anyway, password has been changed but is there anything else i should do? Here's one for any Android experts out there. On my Nexus 7 I can remove apps. However on my phone there are certain apps that cannot be completely removed, the likes of Twitter/Facebook etc. If I go into the Root folder on my phone via the PC, where can I remove the apps from there??

I'm trying to finish a spreadsheet that will save countless man hours in completing forms. What I need to happen is when button is pressed on Sheet 1 it takes information row by row on Sheet 1 and populate fields on Sheet 2 until all the rows on Sheet 1 have been processed. I think it might need a script or macros to do it. I have specced it very well but don't have the technical ability to finsh it off. I reckon it would take someone who knows what they are doing an hour max to do the job and I am happy to pay a small sum if anyone can do it. Thought I would ask here before I head over to Freelancers.com

Good evening, I have been reading about the Beat Buddy app which sounds great, but it is only available on Iphone and Android. Although I hear they are working on a blackberry version there is no suggestion of when it will be released. I have searched the threads on this site and also the apps on my Blackberry but I can't find anything similar to beat buddy. I don't suppose anyone has found or can point me in the direction of one? I have an '@btinternet.com' e-mail account and for the last couple of weeks it seems to be sending spam e-mails to people I've sent e-mails to in the past. Hello, I am relatively new to the website building scene. I have designed (on paper) a website which is essentially a platform for bloggers. The landing page will be an introduction and explanation about the site. There will be a directory of establishments on one side which you can select from to find the relevant one for you. Once inside there you will be able to view the blog of the person representing that establishment.
