Hey all. On the 5/10/16 I received an email detailing a conditional offer to start the CKP trainee placement scheme on 5/12/16. Leading on to: "It is anticipated that you will join the MPS as a Police Constable on 30th January 2017" My notice period at work is 4 weeks and I'm yet to receive confirmation that I have been booked onto the course or any further correspondence from them. I've emailed several times but have not had a reply. It's so frustrating! Any advice?

Is anyone on the March 27th Intake? Received an offer today from HR thought it would be good to see if anyone else is going to attend.

Hi, I applied for regular PC. with the Met back in April 2016, Everything had been going ok so far, passed day one and day two, and just waiting on vetting. Today I received an email informing me the vetting process had been cancelled because i did not provide further requested information? I have had no such request of further information? been checking my emails etc regularly and nothing? I have contacted the email inbox but never seem to be able to get a reply from them just always some generic statement completely unrelated to my email? Is the re a contact number I can call to try and get some answers? or has this ever happened to anyone els…

Hi all, I'm due to start training on the 27th March. In regards to references and vetting, when do the met start trying to get references? I'm currently in employment and I sit next to the person i've listed as a reference (line manager), and haven't told the company i'm pursuing this career. I wanna know roughly when they're going to apply for references so I can prepare some sort of discussion with my line manager. Personally, I've only been at the company 7 months, and they're really happy with my performance and the way things are going, i'd like to think they'd be supportive. At the same time I worry that they'd think i've gone behind their backs or whatev…

Hey everyone! I start my training (hopefully) next month with MPS. Can anyone recommend buying a specific textbook for some pre-reading? Not really sure what is best, maybe the Blackstone's ones? Thanks in advance

What are your thoughts? I think removing the option to be covert is terrible, also we'll all look like every other random official and workman in a high vis jacket. I will be using my black coat as long as possible.

Those currently serving constables, what's work life balance like for you? Overall, would you prefer a 9-5 Mon-Fri, with guaranteed days off? I'm seeing how changes are being made where 7 on 3 off shifts are being implemented and it's got me worried as a recruitment candidate.

Hi everyone, Apologies if this is the wrong place to post but I don't know where to start! To cut a long story short....I'm a DC in a Midlands Force. The Met externally recruited for Sgts in July and I've recently found out I've been successful. Now, here is where the questions start.... How do people afford to live in London?! Even on a Sgts salary it seems impossible! Do police houses still exist? Is there anyone out there advertising for a room mate? (I'm considering staying where I am living wise...and commuting to London for my set at work so I just need a cheap crash pad down there) I'm entitled to the ATOC scheme.....how does th…

Hi, Firstly, apologies if this is the wrong place to me but I'm new to these forums! I'm a DC in a force other than the Met and in July (after seeing that the Met were externally recruiting for sgts) I decided to give it a bash as there are no promotional opportunities in my own force. I've been successful in the recruitment process and I'm hoping to find others on here that may also have passed. I'm told I'm eligible for ATOC and housing/rental allowance and I just need some advice about how I obtain these things and what the terms and conditions are?

Hi all, let me begin this post by saying that I was a bit of a plonker and found myself under investigation by my current employer. I make no excuses for my actions but for the sake of clarity this is what happened: Where I work there's an unwritten rule (in hindsight I see exactly why it's such a bad idea to follow unwritten rules) that if you stay back after your shift to help out that you can come in late on another day and sign in at your normal time so that you're still being paid for the correct hours actually worked. This is a local arrangement between supervisor and staff but all managers are aware of this - it's common knowledge in the industry. The …
