on a rest day and im bored, this forum popped to mind and i still remembered my details jeez... i remember that long vetting i had and i was hopeless. i've got just under a year service and only 9 or so months on the beat so its nothing really, still learning, obviously. has good days and bad days, just have to weather through it. I do try my best most of the time to serve my community. its alright i guess, im just thankful i have a job etc. all i really want out of this probation is to be able to somewhat deal with basically any kind of incident that i come across, hopefully i get that. and to everyone else, how are you getting on? 12 months or 12 yea…

Hi! After a very long recruitment process I received an email today with an offer of a training start date of 31st July! I'm still not vetting cleared and have yet to do my CKP though. Has anyone done the CKP self funded online at all? If so can you recommend which online course giver to do it with? I understand I will need to attend Hendon for the first two days of my training, will I then be placed at the foundation centre nearest to me? Thank you in advance for your responses!

I've just received my email from recruitment that I have been provided with my B OCU as Central North. Am I correct in understanding this is Camden & Islington Boroughs? Hi Is anyone got the conditional offer for June intake? I have received the offer but it says subject to successful vetting clearance. Does this means my vetting is still on progress? Also it's been a week as I have replied them with acceptance of offer. But I have not received any acknowledgement from HR. I feel it's a big risk to resign from my current employment. Please guide as what to do in this situation. My current employment requires 3 month notice to obtain satisfactory reference.

So i've been a special since June last year, I did ELS and OST in March/April last year, I did the OST27 refresher last September (OST only), and am due to do the OST/ELS (OST28) refresher course tomorrow, I am under the impression OST must be done every 6 months (Sept-March, i.e done by next month) and ELS is every year, (March 2016-March 2017) is this correct? I spoke to a special on my borough who attested a few months before me, early 2016 and has yet to do an ELS or OST refresher course, they said you should get a reminder email to state you are due to redo the training to stay up to date, which they haven't, nor for that matter have I. Hi, Applied a while back for a special constable position. I attended the assessment day and passed all areas. I then received the letter saying I failed the vetting process. I appealed which also resulted in a fail. My background is completely clear I can only assume that its family members history that is the problem. I was told there is nothing I can do now and have to accept the result. It has been a while since all of that but it still really bothers me that this has happened considering I passed all the tests ect and have no criminal background. Is it there anything at all I can do? Any help would be greatly appreciated Thank you

Dad of two young boys and another on the way, 26 years old, currently work for the met as a civilian. Have the opportunity to join as a PC but currently have 4/5 days off after 4/5 days on. Bit stuck on what to do, ultimately its my decision and blah blah but wondered how it would (negatively or positively) affect my family life . I appreciate 2 years would be tough in probation but what about after. Worth staying in a civvy cushty job or giving it a go... End of day, family is first.

Hi guys Just looking for some advice. I've been invited to an induction evening a couple of days before the start date for my MSC training. Would I be right in thinking the dress code would be smart casual rather than formal (suit) for this evening? Also I was told my place on training was subject to various checks, references etc. I start in a week's time, should I just assume everything is good to go if I haven't heard or do you normally get notified? Having a very difficult time with the MET HR department right now. I was yesterday sent a conditional offer of employment - training starting on 30 May 2017. However, within that email, they stated that I am already doing the CKP myself and to send them the certificate before 30 May. This is clearly wrong as I ticked the box stating that I was going to do it internally. I then emailed them asking them whether this was a mistake and to clarify. They did not email back. I forwarded the email again today and they emailed back telling me that they have not received my vetting form - I sent it last month!
