A colleague has approached me who isn't on the forum, they're doing their first ever L2 course and want to know some do's and do not's and any helpful tips you fine lot may have for them? FYI: I will be sending screenshots of your posts to them but I will remove everything other than the raw text which you write. (No usernames, forum URLs, etc) Cheers

So on my daily visit to the Met website to see if they've removed the god-forsaken residency requirement yet especially for little old me, I've noticed that on their eligibility page (the one with all the cartoony buttons) the 'academic' criteria logo has changed from showing 'CKP' to a little acropolis building - and the description only makes mention of having a GCSE in English at grade C. It makes no mention of the CKP being a pre-requisite anymore. Anyone know if this has been changed? And on that note, whether they're likely to change the residency criteria? It's frustrating having grown up a stone's throw outside and get turned away, especially since I would be able…

I’m due to transfer to PaDP in May, but haven’t yet been told where I’m going to be stationed or the shift pattern. I’m aware that PaDP operate from both Central London and Windsor. Can anyone please tell me where (not necessarily the station) where PaDP are based in central London and the shift pattern? I have attempted to get this out the Met for the last several months with no joy. Can anyone also confirm whether the AFO/conversion courses are run by the CNC? I’ve heard that the Met has out sourced these to the CNC. Many thanks Ian

Afternoon everyone. I have my day 1 assessment for Designated Detention officer next week and am wondering if anyone has experienced it recently and would like to share their experience? Is the competency interview similar to that of a PC? Sorry I know this would have been better in the recruitment section but couldnt find a sub section for this role. Thanks in advanced. Cemal.

Just wondering if how likely is it to get one of your top three borough choices? Has anyone been unlucky getting their 5th or 6th choice? Surely they must need more PC's in every borough?

Seen a lot of bike PCSO working in Soho in the last couple days and I've noticed they're wearing white traffic caps. Are they actually traffic trained and passed the exam? If anyone could shed some light, be really interesting to find out more and their role.

Hi Fellow Specials, The time has come for me to take my Police Career a step further and I have just been informed that I may start training in December, however, I have heard that the new Foundation Training for PCs now incorporates the CKP. As I joined the MSC whilst IPS was accepted instead of the CKP, how does this affect my PC Training? I cannot seem to find anything online so would appreciate if someone who has recently started PC training as an IPS Special could share their experiences with us. I think it would also be helpful for any other MSC who are planning to join Regs. Thanks

Hi there, guys. I’ve somehow managed to pass my Day 1. It wasn’t an easy day to be honest, it’s a very nerve-racking day. But yeah, I’ve managed to get through it. I’m now at the stage where I have to choose boroughs. Any suggestions or advise will be vastly appreciated. This is what I have in mind: 1. KF - Newham 2. GD - Hackney 3. SX - Barnet 4. QK - Brent 5. EK - Camden 6. HT - Tower Hamlets Anyone at any of the above boroughs?

The Met has announced today that it is temporarily removing the London residency criteria for new PC recruits. If you want to join the Met as a PC and don't live in London, now is your chance - for a limited period of time only! You also do not have to have the CKP prior to starting your training either. Following a long recruitment period I finally received invite to the 7 week CKP course followed by 12 weeks at Hendon, and what did I do? I opted out! Yes, I did. Why? I am not so young any more - 36yo. I have a family and a 10yo son. I have a job, nothing special but pays bills and got plenty of time off to spend with my dearest. No such thing as job security these days unless you're a brain surgeon. Stress levels low, long hours yes. I have always wanted to wear a uniform but reality has struck me when I calculated my net pay (incl London allowance) bearing in mind that for three months I will not be paid and still have to cover mortgage and other expenses. Loan would h…

Hello All, First of all I'd like to wish you all a Happy New Year. :) In a nutshell I've done a number of years with the Met as a PC. I still really enjoy it. Over the last few months I've been contemplating about transferring to Hackney (GD) from my current, serving, borough. I won't state which one but for reference it's one of the "County Boroughs" bordering Essex. I guess my question is... What's Hackney like to work as a PC, specifically on the Response teams? I'm on Response now, and would like to continue this. A detailed response would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time.
