Hi All, I have been searching the forums but cannot find the answer to this question... Can anyone who is ofay with the Regulations help to explain what constitutes "normal place of duty" with regards travel time (reg 22 I think) and the new BCU system? Does normal place of duty refer simply to your Home Station or is it now any station within the BCU? Surely as these are national regulations then it must only refer to your local police station where you are posted? Thanks in advance for your replies..!

As some of you may be aware, it was decided that all IPS (Independent Patrol Status) officers will now have to apply externally to become a regular police constable. Notes: You will be exempt from holding the (CKP) Certificate in Knowledge of Policing. Exempt from the residency criteria. (Having to reside inside the M25 for 3 years in the last 6)

I have recently applied to the Metropolitan Police to be a Police Constable. On completing the eligibility questions, I was unsuccessful because I have not lived within the geographical area covered by the Met for three of the last six years. I have applied before to join the Met back in 2014. I was successful. All the assessments were completed, including the medical and fitness test. I was even offered a placement. A CKP was taken, but I failed to reach the required results and did not complete. I found it to be a bit of a struggle because I suffer from depression. If I was accepted before? Why not now? Does anyone know if the eli…

The Met currently has two trial BCUs (Basic Command Units) at the moment replacing the old BOCUs (Borough Operational Command Units): Central North (Camden and Islington) and East Area (Havering, Redbridge and Barking & Dagenham). Rumour has it that the new Commissioner has said that the BCUs are staying no matter what and the One Met Model are now refereeing to the 'trials' as 'pathfinders', clearly indicating that they aren't trials, but the mergers are here to stay and are coming to a Borough near you in the foreseeable future. So, I thought it would be a good idea to create a mega thread for BCUs, so we can talk about how the trials are going, what your expe…

So, I make no secret that in the future I would have a keen interest in joining The Met. However, being from Wales originally I'm not clued up on the areas in which the Met cover. Out of interest, what sort of areas and stations would be best if you're looking to be busy a lot of the time on response? I'm only 23 years old at the moment so at this stage in my career I'm looking to be busy and pro active with my time rather than settling down in the Welsh valleys! Any advice would be great. I am currently living in Kent as well so if anyone has any recommendations for places to work within traveling distance from Kent area also that would be great. Thanks in advan…

Hello all I was just wondering if any Met officers can clarify on here if the ATOC scheme will be being renewed in 2018? Long story short I will be transferring in April to the Met, I’m still eligible for ATOC but know it’s up for renegotiation or more likely cancellation.

Hi there, guys. I went through the Day 1 process on the 16th Nov which admittedly was quite nerve-wracking. Was anyone else on here on that Day 1? So take me feel a little bit more optimistic, I thought I’d ask how long it took everyone else to hear back? I’m now just waiting; it’s been around 5/6 days now excluding the weekend. How much more longer do you guys think I’ll have to wait? On the day of my assessment, there were only around 8 of us, so I’m assuming it won’t take long for them to mark and distribute results. Fingers crossed. ?

Just wondering how people are getting on with My Investigation, now that it's starting to roll out more widely? Does anyone think it's a good idea or are you all wishing that Beat Crimes units and CPUs are re-created? Are there teams secretly running Beat Crimes or CPU?

I’ve been really bugged recently by the compete misuse of the Ambulance service. Not by the Public (that’s a separate issue) but by police officers who don’t think about what they are doing. We get trained with basic first aid for a reason. Only a few weeks ago a lady fell down some steps at a shopping centre, her only injury complaint was that she had a cut to her shin. Officers on scene asked for LAS and were chasing them up for 20 minutes. When asked what had actually happened and learning of the injuries I attended myself, what I saw was a one inch gash to her leg, whilst it was sore there was no other injury complaint and the lady was walking fine. I as…

Hi there, guys. I’ve somehow managed to pass my Day 1. It wasn’t an easy day to be honest, it’s a very nerve-racking day. But yeah, I’ve managed to get through it. I’m now at the stage where I have to choose boroughs. Any suggestions or advise will be vastly appreciated. This is what I have in mind: 1. KF - Newham 2. GD - Hackney 3. SX - Barnet 4. QK - Brent 5. EK - Camden 6. HT - Tower Hamlets Anyone at any of the above boroughs?

Hi Ladies and Gents, Is anyone on a borough with the with the new full model in operation for the MSC? how are you finding it without MSC managers and in particular how are Special Sergeants finding the additional tasks without MSC managers?

    Started by LTFD,

I've decided to make this a MSC specific post as I have no idea how it works in other forces, but I may post again in General Discussion if this is well received! In your home Boroughs, do you call the Supervisors by their rank, or is it more familiar, like first names? The reason I ask this is because in Camden we call all other specials by their first name, and if you call the Sergeants or Inspectors 'Skip' or 'Guv' they're more than likely to tell you to knock it off! However, saying that, I've heard of at least a couple of boroughs that not only allow it, but encourage Calling supervisors and above by their Rank. I've actually heard of a few instances where there …
