Greetings all, Just some quick advice, I can't for the life of me find out (online) the sickness policy for the MET. I have applied for the role of PCSO and have 6 days continuous sickness in the last 3 years, this was due to me suffering from Tonsillitis with a course of oral antibiotics, work told me not to come in until I complete the course. I was signed off sick from my manager, is 6 days sickness in the last 3 years an automatic fail? Thank you in advance.

Hi all, I'm hoping to hear from anyone with a young family working in the met as a PC? Ive wanted to do this role for a long time, but with a young family at home, and living in Essex, I'm worried it could have an impact on my home life and relationship. What sort of challenges do you face? Would you recommend taking the leap? Thanks in advance for any replies, I have a conditional start date of October 28th, so I want to get as much info as I can before making my final decision

Hi All I have been given a start date for the Met, and have been asked to select 3 choices of Basic Command Units. I wondered if anyone would have some insight on what is a good choice. My initial thoughts were high crime areas like Newham or Tower Hamlets. It looks like the BCU system is new to the Met and if you are unfamiliar with it, I found a good article on the BBC https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-43033510. If anyone has any experience with any of the 32 boroughs and what its like to work in them, any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I am currently working for an ambulance service and have considered joining the Met alongside. I have seen that there is an option of part-time roles, but i have a couple of questions if anyone has any information. I have tried phoning the recruitment line a few times and they appear to be pretty busy as i'm getting no answer. 1) Would there be any flexibility on the required number of hours over a 10 week period? I may not be able to do 160 hours over that period, but maybe 100-130. I may be able to do 1 shift on week 1, but 4-5 on the following week. 2) Training - would this still remain a full time course, or would this be carried out on a part time schedul…

If you could design our uniform from scratch what would you want us to wear. Head to toe why would you want to wear? Also, what equipment that you don’t already have would you like issued?

Hi all Sorry if there is a similar thread. I'm due to start on the 24th June and am wondering if anyone know the training routine? As the recruitment line aren't giving much away. I currently live in Wales so will need to look for accommodation. Does anyone know if they still do police houses and how to get hold of them please? Thank you

Hey all, I've been given my provisional start date of September 30th, and I'm curious about how others managed to move to London. I'm coming all the way from Wales, and am on a budget so I would appreciate any help/links you guys can offer for starting off and getting through the initial first fortnight. I've heard that there is a section house at Gilmour - is it easy/possible to get into, or is my best bet to book a hotel in for two weeks while I get my feet sorted? I've heard there is a scheme that enables officers free travel on the tube, which would hopefully make transport easier/cheaper. Is this ATOC (?) scheme accessible from day 1, or will I have to…

Any AFO'S that have transferred to met could enlighten me as to if they felt it was worth doing or regret it? TYIA

Hello I am a TV Producer ( don't shoot!) my other half is a PC so I am firmly on the side of the Police. I appreciate people do not like the press. In case anyone does wish to help, I am making a podcast documentary about the case of Carol Myers https://www.theguardian.com/society/2011/dec/11/carole-myers-satanic-child-abuse . She sadly died in 2005 in Wandsworth. I am trying to track down the responding officer PC Hudson ( I imagine no longer a PC but promoted) Inspector Ron Rogers ( now retired I believe) and Nicky McAllister the Crime Scene Photographer. If anyone can help I would be most grateful and thank you for all your hard work, I know its a toug…

I left the job about six months ago having served as a Response Officer in Police Scotland for four years. I'm considering rejoining, but this time to the Met. I have previously lived in London and I'm content with the makeup of the city. Accommodation isn't an issue for me and I know the Boroughs I'd shortlist as preference. The recruitment process genuinely seems a simple as they could make it and I'm now wondering if there's a reason for that. I'm a response driver and basic MoE trained. Recruitment have even said I could bring them over. What's the general feeling of Response Cops in the Met? Is it difficult to get released or apply for specialisms? There a…

Hi, I’m starting my CKP at the end of the month and I was wondering if there’s anywhere I can park within walking distance of the Peel Centre. I’m trying to avoid public transport due to the time it will take me. Thanks in advance!

Hi all, Firstly apologies for a similar thread but I am looking for help in regards to the section house. (Eg, what to bring, what its like etc). The only threads I can find seem to be at least 3 years old or more. Are there any current residents or anyone who I can PM who would be happy to answer some questions about this? thanks in advance

I'd be grateful for recommendations for temporary accommodation near Hendon. I'm transferring from a non-HO force and need to do the full initial training there. Commuting to and from each day would add hours to my working day, thankfully I've got a provisional Borough south of the river.
