  1. Hello all, I was looking at the changes due to Windor's report and eventually came across this: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/police-officer-remuneration-and-condition Scroll down a bit and at Recommendation 2, is mentions an allowance of an extra 10% pay when Officers work between 8PM and 6AM. Excuse if it's a silly question, but surely this additional pay is on top of the standard starting point of 22k? Potentially makes starting pay around 23.5k which is not bad tbh.

    The new shift pattern

Hello all, Just wondered what everyone's hearing about the new shift pattern that's come in since the 'new world' changes. I know Prae can give us some first hand feedback from working them, but also what has everyone else heard from working with other officers? Obviously people have had time to settle in now. How's it affecting you? Your families and relationship with your families / partners? There are a lot of things to consider before saying 'yes' when the next recruitment drive comes around!

    Resourcing mailbox

Does anybody have the address for the resource mailbox to pre book your hours onto CARM? most of my shifts were short notice so my sgt just had me text in when I was coming in. The one I though I had keeps failing to send. Cheers, Matt

    Working hours

Hi All, I am considering joining WYP as a special constable but I am unsure of what hours I would be expected to work. Like many of you (I'm guessing) I'm hoping to fit this around work commitments and a young family. Do you have any say over what shifts you can work, as I would like to pick up week nights rather than weekends? Also I'm aware that it is expected that I commit to a minimum of 16 hours a month. Is it possible to do four hour shifts or is this a non starter. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
  5. Hi I am considering becoming a special while at university. I've read threads about this before and I'm hoping I'll be able to juggle being a special around everything else. How flexible are Nottinghamshire police when it comes to hours though ? As I dont know how I'll meet the requirements as I'll probably go home during the holidays.

  8. Hi there! Not sure if this topic has been covered, did a quick search and couldn't find anything but if it has I apologise. Basically I just wanted to find out how easy it for people to be a student and a SC at the same time and how you balance the two? I know this may probably seem trivial to those with full-time jobs but I've never had a full-time job so any tips on how to balance day-to-day life with being a SC will be very helpful! I'm currently a first year Criminology student at a university in London and I'm also in the recruitment process for the MSC (Day 2 in a couple weeks ). If
  9. Hello everyone, Completely out of the blue yesterday, well, out of the blue insofar that I wasn't expecting it, I received delivery of an FOIA request I made and then complained about ten months ago. It concerns the following questions: (1) Please supply the job description that is used to recruit ‘MSC Base Managers’ (regular police officers, normally Sergeants, who look after MSC officers on an OCU by OCU basis)? (2) Do these ‘MSC Base Managers’ receive any formal training or qualification on how to manage or motivate volunteers? (3) In relation to the following BOCUs: Enfield (YE), West
  10. I hope there is someone here who can help me with a query. Im a serving special for 2 years and am about to go regular in September. I recently found out that my employer HBOS is part of the ESP programme and that I should recieve 70 hours extra AL a year to aid duties. Im leaving in the next month so does anyone know/think it would be possible to see my HR department and get them to honour this? Thanks
