Hi all, First post so apologies if it's in the wrong area but I can see a few similar questions to my own in this section. I've just passed through the final bits of recruitment, health check + vetting etc, I've got a conditional start date for the end of July. I'm living in Hereford at the moment and I'm intending to move to London (or very close by) and have a few questions regarding that, I'm looking at north area, north west, west area or central west, as potential posting preferences with the intentions of moving to the closest borough to the posting to make the commute less of a hassle. From what I can gather you find out your posting quite close to t…

Hello everyone, I have my KEE1 next weekend and I am not sure what exactly I need to revise. We haven't been given much information regarding it. From what I have heard from other students that it is multiple choice of 40 questions. I am thinking to revise the legislations, mnemonics and policies. Can anyone tell me what the pass mark is and if revising legislations, mnemonics and policies is the way to go about this. I have tried googling this but everything I found seems to be outdated. Appreciate any advice given. Thanks

Hi guys You have always been super helpful before so I thought I would ask another question. I am a documentary producer and also OH to a DC. I am presently making a podcast documentary and I am looking to find officers who are probably now retired but may still be on here. My podcast is on the Satanic Panic of the 1980’s/90’s. I am following a specific case - here https://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/nurse-died-after-claiming-she-was-sexually-abused-by-satanic-cult-inquest-told-a2959016.html I very much doubt anyone here recalls her case or worked it but I am looking for anyone who may be willing to talk to me on or off the record about that period …

Hi all. Got my start date for June 2020, pending successful vetting but I have no worries on that front. Just wondering, when can I expect to receive my BCU preference form? Appreciate the help.

Hi, first post here! So I ound out 2 weeks ago that I passed the Day One assessment-over the moon! Was honestly unsure of how well I did, I knew I did well in certain areas, but didn't even finish the written test and and there were so many different tasks overall. Very pleased anyway. I know I'm not 'in' yet, but Day 2 has been booked and I'm confident! So, I sort of went back on thinking about the 3 choices I'd initially put down for which station/ BCU area I'd wanted to work at, and started becoming a little unsure. I'd initially put down 3 what I'd call *almost* 'central' areas in London; Islington (1st choice), Camden and Haringey. Yeah, technically North Londo…

Does anyone have a contact number for Gilmour Section House? Also can anyone confirm that it is still in use (ie anyone currently staying there)? I have contacted SSCL they dont have a number and despite scouring the internet have so far been unsuccesful. I am hoping to stay there during initial training but getting very close to start date now, Recruitment say to phone for accommodation information and then when you phone they say they can't help!

Hi. Looking at which BCU’s to select when I am asked to do so, and was wondering about the Westminster BCU. I have noticed police guarding gates to Downing Street and the Houses of Parliament etc etc and I am wondering if those police officers are permanently on that job or is it on a rota among officers in Westminster BCU? Or are officers from The Met as a whole take a turn in guarding key establishments? Cheers

Hi all, My 1st post so go easy😆 I would like the heads up on The Met’s day one assessment? On their website it is categorised into these sections, Sit an interview. Participate in some interactive exercises. Complete two video-based exercises. Undertake a written exercise. Work with another candidate in a scenario-based virtual reality exercise. Has anyone completed this recently or does anyone know any information that could help me to prepare? Thanks 👍

I hope someone can help and aleviate my fears (or not!) After going through the recruitment process, passing vetting and having a start date for February 2020, I came home today and have recieved a notice of prosecution for speeding (28mph in a 20mph zone). So my question is, is this going to sink my career before it gets off the ground? For context i should add I am 46 years old, clean licence, no other police involvement but did get prosecuted for speeding as a teenager. I will be emailing to inform the recruitment department but just wanted to ask what your thoughts are on the possible implications regarding my recruitment. thanks in advance

Hi all, Recently started with MPS and been given RTPC. I know I’ll be on the safer transport side of it. If I’m honest, I was disappointed when I read I’d be on RTPC. I had an idea that I would be starting my career in response, which I know is busy and stressful, but I thought being thrown in the deep end would help me gain the experience and knowledge to help me one day specialise or move teams etc. I understand that the shift pattern is better in the RTPC, which is great, but is not enough for me to be excited by this role. Can anyone whose on RTPC or has previously been on it, shed any light on it please? Just so I can have some idea of what I wi…

Hi Team First post on here so a new member I'm keen to find out how far officers tend to live to work for MPS? Average commute times is perfect. I'm thinking of joining Richmond (live near Queens Park) and I'm not sure if this is a good distance to hold or if I should look further. Long story short, my neighbours and people in the area are not fans of police and literally hate them (which is sad) so being myself someone who loves the police and to work for the Met as a special will be an honor. However I'm aware theres other officers in similar situations, so how do you overcome this? do you look for the furthest borough you can work in? …

Hi all. Are Heathrow struggling to recruit AFO's? I see met are actively recruiting for aviation and seriously looking at it. Any response would be appreciated 😀

Hello all, It’s looking increasingly likely that my girlfriends work is going to mean relocation to the South East. I’ve always fancied a crack at the Met and so I’m wondering if this might be my chance. I’m currently a sergeant working in a specialist role (completing my PIP2 as a bit of CPD too) I’ve seen frequent vacancies for Constables on the Met website but very little in respect of sergeants. Does anyone know how often/likely does the Met look for Transferees at the rank of sergeant? Many thanks in advance
