Quote: "............Kate Martin, director of the Center for National Security Studies in Washington. "The danger is they're reading Americans' mail," she said. -unquote. Quote: A top Senate Intelligence Committee aide promised, "It's something we're going to look into." - unquote. A little unintended irony there, I think.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/6277269.stm Hatton regains IBF crown in Vegas By Ben Dirs Hatton (left) shipped some solid blows against Urango Ricky Hatton recaptured his IBF light welterweight title with a gruelling points win over solid Colombian Juan Urango on his Las Vegas debut. All three judges scored the fight 119-109 to Hatton at the Paris Hotel, but that did not reflect an extremely tough night for the Manchester fighter. Hatton, 28, started brightly but had become ragged by the middle rounds as Urango's strength began to tell. But Hatton was rarely troubled and clung on down…

Actual excerpts from "employee performance reports" of the British Royal Navy and Royal Marine officers. "His men would follow him anywhere, but only out of curiosity." "I would not allow this officer to breed." "This officer is really not so much of a has-been, but more of a definitely won't- be." "He has carried out each and every one of his duties to his entire satisfaction" "Since my last report, he has reached rock bottom and has started to dig." "The only ship I would recommend this man for is citizenship." "Works well when under constant supervision and cornered like a rat in a trap." "When she opens her mouth, it seems that this is only to …

So. The government are now suggesting a database or other system to pool all their knowledge on each one of us - something they promised they wouldn't do when they proposed ID cards: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/6262455.stm The Inland Revenue are going to be able to find out where you went on holiday and what kind of car you drive, while your council will have access to your medical records and, if you work in the public sector, your employer can find out virtually anything they like about at the touch of a button. What with ID Cards, the NHS database, the Children's database, the proliferation of CCTV, unregulated use of ANPR, Bliar's deter…

Another salesman / telemarketer revenge posts. Very funny, taken off a US radio show. How To Prank A Telemarketer 'dust the body for prints...' or even the better, the bit when he supposedly speaks to colleagues in the background instructing them to get the local police over to the marketer's address. Turn your speakers on...!

The scenario... I am taking customers out to lunch. I park my car outside the restaurant, in a line of approx 10 other cars. It is quite windy and the canopy in front of the premises is flapping about in the wind. We are sitting having our meal, looking out of the window, commenting on how windy it is, when the canopy (about 6ft x 15ft aluminium framed) detaches from the building and lands on the bonnet of my car, missing the others. There is significant damage to the bonnet and front wing. At no point was anyone told not to park in front of the premises, nor was any apparent attempt made to secure the canopy during the wind. The manager late…

I know there was a topic for this at sometime in the past: people recommending good CDs. I was shopping before the holiday and couldn't focus on signing my receipt because of the music in the background. I asked the clerk (who had been rude to me before). She started gushing about the CD. I put it on my Amazon wish list hoping that I wouldn't regret it. The CD came yesterday. I'm totally blown away. I highly recommend: The Evolution of Robin Thicke.
