Sir JohnStevens has stated that an assassination attempt had been threatened against Tony Blair during the Queens Golden Jubilee celebrations, but Blair insisted on carrying out his duties. I suppose he will be coming out next and telling us all what a hero he was to carry on as if nothing was happening. He always did like to be in the front of things and in the limelight, i.e wanting a more prominent position at the Queen Mother's funeral. It's all good for your legacy Teflon, pity about the lies and the corrupt people you have had in your cabinet. Maverick222007-02-26 17:00:41

Fifty years old is the Cat in the Hat, a kiddy's delight with a this & a that, and a who and a why and where and a when, came these lovely stories from Dr Suess' pen. And over this time he's made his words rhyme, to make them so nice to read every time, so the cat's been the joy of many a boy, and many a girl has been given a whirl, by his style and his prose and his pussycat's nose. So hip and hooray, it's a big holiday, for the stories he'd written, when the cat was a kitten, and give up a cheer and get it down pat, for it is the birthday of Dr Seuss' cat. http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/books/children/article1428360.ece

Hello, I didn't see this when I joined the forum, so apologies for having jumped in, without saying hello first. I was told about this site by a friend, came to read, found interesting and love the dry humour, so joined. I work in legal insurance and look at things that don't smell right. :)

I'd just like to say hi and that theres more to this forum than I perhaps first thought!! I look forward to having a good laugh and some healthy discussion with you all!! Cheers, Leeh

i always used to think that the point of a government is a select body of citizens elected to carry out the wishes of the population of that country Seems to have gone awry somewhere down the line with general things like these petitions, Iraq etc, more of them just telling us what they want us to do or is this just me?

Looks like more vindictiveness from this Labour shower. Lord Goldsmith has decided to shut down the SFO, in revenge for daring to investigate the Saudia/BAE Systems scam, and refusing to cease the enquiry. It was nothing to do with National Security, it was Blair worrying about the loss of 8000 jobs, and 6000billion pounds. Mr Wardle was very cross with Goldsmith for suggesting there would never have been enough evidence for a prosecution, when there clearly was. We now have Goldsmith stopping the investigation to save his masters legacy.

When Sexes Collide Ross Leckie by Maureen Dowd Headline Review, £7.99 £7.59 (free p&p) There is the question of sperm. But if men were milked, like prize bulls, would women need men at all? Dowd, a columnist on The New York Times, examines these issues. It is a fascinating field, and she ranges far and wide. She quotes the ideas of many professors, such as the one who has written: “Men are wilting away. From sperm count to social status...as civilisation advances those who bear Y chromosomes are i…

Sir Clive Booth's Police Pay Review is out, you can find it on the news items on the front page. Very interesting reading, I think it is more for us than against. I think the Federation had doubts about his independence, but it seems pretty fair having read it from start to finish.

The government say you can only hear music if you pay large sums of money to commercial venues. Read and sign below The Government have recently passed laws in the UK to try and suppress live music and dance. Pubs which could previously offer work to solo singers or duos now have to pay for a special licence and can only have 12 of these per year. Even school Xmas concerts need to be licenced. If you don't know there is a UK government web site where anyone can now start a petition and that's what is being done. we've just received the following email which explains things more clearly and gives the site address . If you care about keeping music live please take the ti…
