Despite doing part of my history O level on the growth of parliament,. I'm a really politically naive person. I vaguely know you have to pay a deposit and lose that if you don't get enough votes, but I don't know much else. How do you stand for parliament? I tried googling but didn't find anything useful. Do you have to stand for the coonstituency in which you live (that ought to be the case... as you're supposed to be serving the people.) Just wondering.

Teflon Tony Blair has today confirmed that he is a religious freak, by joining the Roman Catholic Church. He said he was afraid to show his true belief in God when he was PM, because he was worried people would think him a freak. He used to take a copy of the Bible with him where ever he went, and always read it just after Cherie had tucked him up in bed, or Alistair Campbell, which ever the case may be. He states that he could not have done his job as PM without his deep religious beliefs, which helped him through troubled times, didn' t do him much good all the same. I always thought religion didn't believe in WAR, but it didn't stop Teflon taking us into Kosovo, Afgh…

What a bloody cheek. The Brazilian Government have sent a strongly worded note to the British gvernment, stating their UNHAPPINESS in the fact that no Senior Officer from the Met is facing prosecution over the death of Jon Charles De Menezes. Thats a bit rich coming from a country where it's police shoot people almost for 'target practice', with no inquiry or inquest into any death whatsoever. When people in Brazil try to find out what happened to their relatives they get no where, and are then hounded by the police if they persist. If I was a Foreign Office offical I would tell the Brazilian Governement to put their house in order before criticising ours, or to pi$$ o…

Apologies of this has been posted elsewhere; posted on one of my other fora by an ex-Serviceman who became a copper: ============== FASCINATION STAGE Years 1 - 4 For most officers, this is their first time outside of the middle class bubble. They have never seen a dead body, never seen life threatening injuries, never dealt with a family disturbance, never witnessed the sh*t some people call "home life", and never really understood the phrase "Man's Inhumanity To Man" until now. Everything is new to them. You can identify them by the amount of fancy new equipment they carry. A ten billion candlelight power torch, pens that write in the rain, a ballistic vest…
