What are the ski-ing policies (if any) in place whilst serving as a police officer? Do the bosses mind, due to the chance of injury, or do they not really mind? Have any of the constabularies that you know of got ski teams and do they ever hold competitions? Waiting on a start date for Northern (scotland) and have a trip bookedd in February so terrified of doing myself some damage. Rest assured I'll stay off the snowboard this year and stay away from the jump parks.

Just read this on the Beeb website, and it's the funniest thing I think I have read for years. I'm still laughing at the image it conjures up. It's about a medieval knight. Full link follows:- http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7192262.stm

Devon and Cornwall have come up with an idea to make better use of their vehicles. They want volunteers to come forward, to be trained to a reasonable standard, supplied with a mobile phone, to drive Police Officers, and other Staff, to meetings and Courts etc etc. Apparently if an officer needs a plain vehicle to go to a meeting that may last four hours, the car is standing idle while he is at the meeting, when it could have been used by another officer to go else where. There is a shortage of vehicles in D and C, and this would be one way of solving a problem. The people who apply will not receive any payment, but will get driver training, and will be doing somethin…

Does anyone else think this is a bit bad? http://www.maldonandburnhamstandard.co.uk/news/localnews/display.var.1973572.0.graffiti_victims_could_have_to_pay_up.php I can understand why the council wants the grafitti removed, but really, I'd feel rather miffed if told to do it.

Police Monkeys A tourist visiting a far away country in the heart of god knows where (possibly Middlesbrough), walked into a pet shop and was looking at the animals on display. While he was there, a Police Sergeant walked in and said to the shopkeeper, I'll take a Traffic Patrol monkey please." The shopkeeper nodded, went over to the cage at the side of the shop and took out a monkey. He fit it with a collar and leash, handed it to the officer saying, "That'll be £5,000 please Sergeant" The Sergeant paid and walked out with his monkey. Startled, the tourist went over to the shopkeeper and said "That was a very expensive monkey. Most of the…
