Apparently 1 in 7 of all UK parents are willing to pay a fine or even face a spell in prison in order to take their kids out of school for a holiday. I suppose as holiday prices rise so will this statistic. How far would you go for your annual break in the sun ?

Has anyone experienced problems with their Forces and the Ladybird book of the policeman which is a fairly tongue in cheek swipe at some preconceived ideas on policing. One force has actually seen it as something to be banned but most appear to treat it as it is meant - a laugh at ourselves

Hi guys, not really too sure where to put this. As you can see I'm fairly new here. Just wondering where you all got those little slim pictures that have your force's name and logo on it? I quite fancy getting myself one of those! Thanks for your help. Rob.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1023644/Woman-left-toddler-imprisoned-kitchen-went-party-weekend.html I cannot believe that this woman would do such a thing, but then partying is probably more important than looking after her son.!!

Gordon Brown is portrayed as an alien-fighting hero in a new American comic. He helps protect the planet from an evil, green-skinned race known as The Skrulls in Marvel comic book Captain Britain and MI13. The Prime Minister is seen discussing the invasion with super hero Captain Britain and operatives of MI13, a fictional British intelligence agency. He tells them: "All British super heroes now work for MI13. Like it or not." The PM is forced to take drastic action after discovering that a number of Cabinet members, including the Home Secretary, are really aliens in disguise. The comic's British writer, Paul Cornell, said: "I'm quite a fan of Gordon Brown and specif…

Police in Bucharest are looking for a busking pole dancer who performs her routines on the city's underground railway. Passengers described the dancer, photographed by a passenger's mobile phone, as a "well-dressed, attractive, student-like young woman". She apparently performs her routines only when the train is travelling between further apart subway stations in the Romanian capital. Her modus operandi is to play Tom Jones's You Can Leave Your Hat On on a portable CD player while taking off her clothes and dancing around a pole. She then puts her clothes back on and passes around a container for passengers to show their appreciation for her efforts. One passenger, …

Came across this when browsing books in work library today: Magistrate of the traditional type - not impressed by soft sentences. Defendant's solicitor requests magistrates to consider CSO. He mentions that Defendant is from agricultural, farming background. Perhaps he could be put to good use, 'on the land'. Magistrate: "Yes, but how would we spread him?" Occurred to me that members might have a good few funny anecdotes from attending court. My own memory is rubbish. But if anyone else can remember any??
