I know this has been brought up and discussed in depth and I do not wish for this to start another debate. First of all I don't know if anyone remembers the old 'plumb' discount card we use to have? Which was fantastic. A new company The Blue Light Card have created a 'banner discount services' for Police, Fire, Ambulance & NHS covering a cross section of well over 2 million people. This discount isn’t just available for Police officers but also the support staff whether these are Cleaners or call takers anyone in the service is welcome. This way Police don't have to feel like they are taking a gratuity for doing the job as it is available to many others not do…

Long story but stay with me.. My wife does dog walking part time down at the local fields, as do hoards of others, over the last 12 months or so some of the locals have been falling out and it even went to court, (Someone pushed over and spit at) sad i know. Any way it went to court and my wife looks after the dog of the soliciter who was defending. After the magistrates gave there verdict the soliciter turned around and said to the gallery ( who all came in support) that his dog walker (my wife) says that "you are all a load of old idiots anyway" Even though she wasn't named everyone knows my wife walks his dog. now they are taking the soliciter to court for sl…

Just before leaving the UK, I had a conversation with my future son-in-law about a subject which interests him, namely depression. Fortunately, that's not something of which I have ever suffered, but I do have a close relative who was clearly depressed for several years and would not get any treatment for it. My son-in-law says that, in his opinion, clinical depression should only be treated with any kind of medication in the most extreme circumstances, and that GPs etc are doling out drugs when they should be using other treatments, like spending the necessary time talking to patients. He is convinced that drugs treat the symptoms of depression rather than the cause a…

John Sidney McCain III v Barack Hussein Obama Thought I'd start a thread dedicated to this subject. Some won't have a lot of interest, but we are being bombarded with it in the news. I read THIS today - discussion on how Muslims view Barack Obama In sum, Muslims puzzle over Obama's present religious status. They resist his self-identification as a Christian while they assume a baby born to a Muslim father and named "Hussein" began life a Muslim. Should Obama become president, differences in Muslim and American views of religious affiliation will create problems.

Divine lightning reaction? A Chinese man who swore to God that he didn't owe money to a neighbour was hit by lightning a minute later. The man, named Xu, made the oath in front of a crowd of neighbours in Fuqing city, reports Southeast Express. He vowed that he had never borrowed money from Mr Huang, who claimed Xu borrowed 500 yuan, the equivalent of £40, from him three years earlier. "He borrowed 500 yuan three years ago from me for a friend's marriage gift, but he has denied it ever since then," said Huang, who went to Xu's home to demand payment. "I told him that if he dared to swear to God that he didn't owe me the money, then I would waive his debt," said Hua…

GND don't look! Some very nasty pictures. I bet there will be a lot of speculating going on (this is the Daily Mail!), but from the information so far, it seems to be one hell of a vendetta!

How often do you watch interviews on TV, on subjects you thought you'd like to know something more about, & they end up being sounding like ? Or is it just my hearing aid on the blink again?

I'm having a quarter life crises and have decided to be done with the car and get a bike. I'm thinking about the Honda Hornet but obviously need to jump the hurdle of the DAS yet. Just after any tips, hints or tricks. I know nothing about bikes so any advice would be great.

I have a short length Hi Viz Bomber jacket for sale. Like the ones from onestopcopshop. It's an XL and only worn a couple of times. I've managed to get hold of a force issue one now so dont need this one anymore. It has two external and two internal pockets. Has the old style radio loops and has hi viz eppaulettes on. It's the thin version and has no lining - but with stabbie on underneath it kept me warm enough on town centre duties. I normally wear Large/X Large and this fits great with stabbie underneath. I will only send to a police station to a PC/SC/Sgt with valid collar number!!! I bought it for £45 with P&P but am looking for offers around £25 (Inc P&…
