Teachers advised to not give chase to truant toddlers.... but never mind, the police will play at nanny. Surely this is a misimnterpretation of council guidelines. But who on earth thought it was worthwhile issuing guidelines in the first place? Surely teachers can be relied on to have common sense.

Because he's not granted such privilages as a bus driver Kenworthy has asked if I'd create this poll for him, which it appears is intended as a bit of light relief for those serving officers feeling a little jaded with the frequent bobby-bashers who come to our site. Kenworthy thought it would be nice to provide an opportunity for those MOPs who wish to do so to demonstrate their support, which I thought was a nice gesture. He says:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7936041.stm While many of the issues raised are non events, e.g. speeding convictions etc, police officers remaining on the job with convictions for perverting the course of justice, fraud, and forgery does seem a bit much. I have reservations about automatically sacking a police officer for offences of violence, as policing is the profession of violence, and under some circumstances it would be quite easy to pick up a conviction for even a quite serious assault carried out with the best of intentions. The real story here though, IMO, is the fact that 10 forces made no reply to a Freedom of Information Act requ…

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1161272/Man-cleared-murder-accidentally-shot-intruder-threats-him.html Another common sense decision from a jury. Clements is no loss to society, a thoroughly nasty piece of work.Maverick222009-03-12 11:03:43
