The 11 plus test is not completely dead. It survives as little embers of common sense in some parts of the country, which is a life-line for the exceptionally bright nerdy types who would be bullied in other circumstances. I am moving this post ans subsequent ones because the thread was drifting off topic M&MBM2009-03-23 11:09:07

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL MY FRIENDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE 1930's 1940's, 50's, 60's and early 70's !<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us and lived in houses made of asbestos. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese, raw egg products, loads of bacon and processed meat, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes or cervical cancer. Then after that trauma, our baby cots were covered with bright coloured lead-based paints. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no h…

Found this rather amusing list of holiday complaints - I can only assume they were British - especially the lack of Ginger Nuts. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/picturegalleries/5005019/20-ridiculous-complaints-made-by-holidaymakers.html and this http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/picturegalleries/4973350/20-stupid-questions-asked-by-tourists.html Astinomikos2009-03-23 07:49:51

http://www.orange.co.uk/news/topstories/1341.htm?linkfrom=hp4&link=ticker_pos_1_link_3&article=index This shower of NuLabour sh$t didn't want anything to do with the Veterans Visit to France to celebrate 65 years since the end of the war. Gollum Brown wasn't the slightest bit interested. As soon as Obama said that he was going to represent the Americans killed, Brown suddenly has a change of mind. He only changed his mind because he saw the oppotunity of a 'photo-call' with the president of the USA. The man is a snide of the first order. It would be nice if he was told he wasn't wanted, but he would still go so he could be seen with Obama.

I feel very sorry for Jade Goody and it is a shame someone as young as her hasn't long to live. The whole episode is like a circus, led by the Ringmaster, Slime himself, Max Clifford. It wouldn't surprise me if Clifford asked for a State Funeral for her.

ITYO's posts in Gen Police Discussion have prodded my conscience. I have a number of (voluntary) tasks which I ought to do, but really can't be bothered with just now. I'm so hacked off with it all, it seems so pointless. Yet the longer I leave it, the more onerous the tasks become. I haven't yet got to the stage where I'll do housework rather than these tasks, but it's getting close...
