http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/10285950.stm I have to agree with this. NHS Direct is a dangerous waste of time. Dangerous because their staff can't even recognise the symptoms of a heart attack. Useless, rubbish, incompetent and a complete waste of money

A tale of my migration to Canada.... Part 1 Well folks, we made it. The journey over went like clockwork. The flights were great, the BA flight from Manchester to Gatwick was a dream, and the Canadian Affair flight from Gatwick to Halifax was also fine (apart from the GBP 450 excess baggage charge!). It was amazing to see the ice flows near Newfoundland. It is such a great sight, especially if you have never seen anything like it before, but not good news if you are a fisherman. Sue & Carol travelled with Air Canada as they were the only airline that would take the cats. They arrived 3 hours earlier than Keith and I, but went …

There's much speculation in the media currently on how the numerous axe blows will fall to make a significant cut in this year's public spending budget..... £60bn in cuts this year is going to require some seriously hard choices and lots of chopping with that financial axe.... A cost cutter which is being discussed is the imminent, inevitable and 'necessary' serious slashing of police overtime nationally..... BUT perhaps, if this was done in a carefully managed way, there could be significant additional savings to other budgetary areas such as the NHS. It would require a major shake up of general police enforcement policies, but if it was to happen there might be (…

FLIPPING OFF DEPUTY LANDS WOMAN IN JAIL A 19-year-old Stafford woman landed in jail Sunday after she drove through an accident scene, "flipped off" a deputy and refused to stop, police said. Stafford sheriff's spokesman Bill Kennedy said the incident started about 5:17 p.m. in the area of Warrenton Road (U.S. 17) and Short Street. Deputies and emergency vehicles were dealing with a crash that had shut down the northbound lanes of U.S. 17. Traffic was being diverted through a parking lot, Kennedy said.

Our modern society can be hopelessly sentimental about foxes. Too many urban dwellers adopt a soft-hearted attitude to these predators, who are foolishly seen as cute, cuddly and clever. Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1284836/Hackney-twins-fox-attack-Fantastic-No-Mr-Fox-vicious-pest.html#ixzz0qImtrmNm Being a lover of all living animals, it is my belief that Fox was only attempting to keep itself and family alive, it is what predators do. Killing off anything that looks sideways at us is not the way to go. We have spent years begging Africa, Brazil to keep their animals with somewhere to live, and i know they have gone through the same thing as in …

With over 250 soldiers killed in Afghanistan and MoD figures showing that in the month of July 2009 alone there were 94 injuries associated with the war in Afghanistan, the time is right for a charity dedicated to the welfare of those directly involved in the conflict. The mother of a soldier who died in an explosion in Afghanistan in July had the idea to set up a charity to provide support for those directly involved in the conflict. Afghan Heroes has been launched by a group of mothers with the aim of helping our service personnel directly on the front line; the families of those who have fallen and our returning service personnel who have witnessed these horrific …
