In April of this year, Iceland's volcano Eyjafjallajoekull spewed out large amounts of volcanic ash, disrupting travel and causing problems for millions. This is surely bad for British trade and the tourist industry and the Goverrnment must make it a priority to prevent future volcanic eruptions. It's my intention to start an e-petition asking the Governemt to put pressure on Iceland to prevent such volcanic eruptions in future. Please sign below if you wish to get this Governement to prevent future eruptions. You may sign more than once, if you wish. after all, who's countiing?

I am presently away from my home in Sweden and in Denmark, on the lovely coast of west Zealand in a summerhouse just 2 minutes walk from a beautiful beach. Yesterday, I met a friend in the local police here who told me that, in his town, there is a bit of a scandal. The local mayor visited the police station and was enticed to accompany some officers to a bar where he drank lots of beer. Then he drank lots more beer. Then he imbibed a ridiculously amount of scotch. An officer realised he was much the worse for wear and called a taxi. His worship staggered into the street and was conveyed part of the way home before he threw up in the taxi, whereupon the driver kicked…

Little Johnny was sitting on the curb with a gallon of turpentine and shaking it up and watching all the bubbles. A little while later a Priest came along and asked Little Johnny what he had. Little Johnny replied, “This is the most powerful liquid in the world, it's called turpentine.” The Priest said, “No, the most powerful liquid in the world is Holy Water. If you take some of this Holy Water and rub it on a pregnant women's belly, she'll pass a healthy baby.” Little Johnny replied, “If you take some of this here turpentine and rub it on a cat's a$$, he'll pass a Harley Davidson.”

Hi, Just wondering how many of the serving officers within this forum have part time jobs. I've been considering taking on some part time work. I want to start saving for a deposit for a house and the overtime budget seems completely cut in work within the current financial climate. Any ideas what sort of sectors would be interested in recruiting a police officer? Given that I currently work shifts I would need flexible part time work which wouldnt be a 'conflict of interest'. Cheers Lee

I'll probably get banned for making this post - and I'm not even sure I'm in the correct forum category - but here goes and fingers crossed! The Liverpool FC football fans forum has had a thread running called "favourite/worst no 1 or no 2" asking what's your favourite memory of the best relief you've experienced after an awkward struggle to 'hang on'. One of the responses came from a police officer (hope he doesn't post on here!) and was one of the most amusing. Just wondered if it was a topic that might attract a few amusing anecdotes in here?

I have a concern regarding recruitment and the potential government cuts. Right now I'm at the stage where I have passed the assessment centre and fitness test, just awaiting the medical. If there is a halt on recruitment could I be on the firing line or have I come far enough to relax a little? Any thoughts appreciated

Was just wondering. Ive got 8 years in. If i died next month what happens to my pension? Does my next of kin get it and how much would she get? Is it the full amount as if i had done my full term, or is it pro-rata? Also is there a death in service benefit that you automatically get? Im paying into the fed and pension scheme, however not paying into the insurance one or benevolent fund. Anyone know.
