Hi guys, I thought I'd write a little bit on what Street Angels are, as some of you may know I have volunteered on one of my local schemes for close to two years now and while we are supposed to be supporting the Police by taking care of things taht don't really fall into the police remit, there seems to be some disparity on how many officers actually know what we do. So, Street Angels, sometimes also know as Street Pastors or in rarer cases Marshals, are volunteer schemes, usually setup by local community groups, and in most cases with support from the local council. As there is no national 'specification' for a scheme you'll have to approach a member of your local sche…

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/harlem-shake-video-lands-pcsos-hot-water-143505320.html#zmVyXF3 - some senior officer in the Met needs a humour transplant. No wonder many people thing the Met PSD is full of humourless deadbeats. Soon they will be telling everyone that you must not be seen smiling or laughing when on duty.

On Friday evening, my wife and I had dinner with a Canadian professor of physics. During the evening, we discussed our respective disciplines and he explained some of his work on using quantum mechanics as a means of remote controlling robots e.g. on Mars - in real time (i.e. remotely driving a robot car which is on Mars from the earth). He made some predictions about how the development of quantum theories could one day enable us to do things which are impossible. For example, he mentioned how quantum physics include a notion of sub-atomic particles literally going back in time when they are observed. Weirdly, the very act of watching particles affect how they behav…

Up the park this morning, walking pooch on lead (as required by pond), and usual suspect out with his two unleashed GSDs and chatting with village drunk (already well oiled, and in booze free zone). The GSDs start running around, and one (who is partially sighted) fell in the pond. Unfortunately, it fell in a section fenced off, to stop baby birds falling through weir. Drunk jumps into pond and grabs dog, but cannot lift it out, nor walk it to the bank. Council man arrives, and phones H.O. to get assistance, as a blind dog is in the pond. Rushes off in 6 wheeled buggy to get a rope. Angler, in waders, comes over, gets in and rescues dog. Drunk gets out and lays on bank, i…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23214821 Quoted as saying "Marion Bartoli was "never going to be a looker".............." Beauty being in the eye of the beholder and all that............but there you go, Mr. Inverdale, having a face for radio, is the ideal person who should be able to make disparaging comments about another person's looks. I'm not sure that his point was really made, as if I've read the article properly, that he was saying that girls less blessed in the looks department t have to try as harder to make it. Now. I'm no tennis fan, but I'm pretty sure that being pretty doesn't make you any more or less likely to win Wimbledon...........although…
