http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/14177715.Murder_suspect_still_being_quizzed_by_police_after_man_dies_in_Bournemouth_flat/ Apparently the police are employing security to cover the crime scenes now, anyone heard of this elsewhere?

Interesting take on the idea of a Special Constable. The RCMP are no longer allowing auxiliaries (special constables) to ride-along with regular RCMP officers. This is mainly because the auxiliaries are unarmed. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/auxiliary-rcmp-officers-no-longer-allowed-in-police-cars-1.3422538

I am curious as to what sort of fitness preparation you as individuals have undergone to better prepare for specials training. Or if you haven't done anything specific at all. I am reasonably fit but wishing to improve my strength and stamina as I believe it will be highly advantageous especially in OST!

Afternoon everyone, I'm sure this may have been asked before, but after a quick search I was unable to find a topic about it. Are there any good Police or Specials TV documentaries / TV series out at the moment? Or even older ones? I've seen the likes of Traffic Cops, Police Interceptors and a few on YouTube but I've been told that 'Rookies' which I believe was following new Specials on their first day of duty, is worth a watch (Can't seem to find anywhere to view it though). Looking at some topics, I've found 'The Nick' and 'First time on the front line' which I'm going to look at sometime this week. Are there any others you would recommend at all? I find them reall…

Hello all. For those who are about to begin training (like myself), you may have been recommended to purchase Blackstones Handbook for Policing Students 2016. I have just purchased mine and wanted to share with you the link as to where you can acquire this handbook for the cheapest price and fastest delivery! https://wordery.com/blackstones-handbook-for-policing-students-2016-sofia-graca-9780198743316Hope this helps you save a few quid!

As i police in an area in which i also work (i work in a busy retail store), it has happened before where my working life and time as a special have sometimes been brought closer together for various different reasons (some relatively insignificant, others potentially significant such as known offenders who are customers etc.). Unfortunately, I was placed in the area where I work and there was little i could do to change that at the time as it wasn't my intention for this to happen. I was wondering whether any of you police in the area where you work, or even where you live and if so, has it ever affected your duties or come close to causing any problems for you? Apolog…

I have my interview and assessment day this Thursday for special constable, I've been researching about the force that I will hopefully be joining, but can't think of anything else that i should be doing. Any advice or words of wisdom anyone can offer would be gratefully received.

Following on from the old thread, it has been suggested that a new poll be created to find out the status of current users of PoliceSpecials.com. To that end, this poll has been created asking exactly the same questions as the old one. The old thread is still available ( here ) although we ask that you only now use this poll, as the old thread has been unpinned.

Some of you might be interested to know that PACE Code E has changed this month, and for a change in a sensible way which makes life easier. While the requirement to audio record interviews for indictable or either-way offences is still there, from now there's a specific exception for shoplifting under £100, criminal damage under £300 or possession of khat or cannabis for personal use. There are quite a few requirements; it's for adults only, stolen goods must be recovered or have been eaten, there cannot have been any risk of injury or violence etc, all listed in the annex at the very bottom of the code linked above. Provided there's no need to start doing house se…

I'm sure pretty much everyone has seen / heard of Jack Jones, troll station, DJ lee Marshall, Dapper laughs. For those who haven't they all have different styles but their way of getting famous is all based on getting in peoples faces in public and doing mini pranks, quite a few of these stars "target" the police in their videos. (If you don't have a clue what i'm talking about just have a quick google search and you'll see) I'm wondering what everyone's view on this phenomenon is? morally and legally? A bit of a laugh or is getting in peoples personal space asking for trouble? Jack Jones seems to have built a good relationship with met coppers but some of his stuff i…

Could a freeman on the land be a Police officer or would that be a conflict of interests? The reason I'm asking is that I have met a Police constable who claimed to be a freeman on the land and therefore didn't understand what I was saying.

I was having a look through my student officer book and had a read of the taking samples from people section, particularly s63 PACE non-intimate samples. In the student officer manual it notes that, for sexual offences and murder, intimate and non-intimate samples must be taken by a police surgeon or other registered medical practitioner. I can't find any reference to this in PACE is anyone able to shed some light on it? I've known non-intimate samples be taken by police officers from suspects arrested for rape a number of times.

Hey all, I currently have an application in with a force and have so far passed the SEARCH assessment centre and am awaiting my final interview. Another force currently has open vacancies for PCs. I have contacted said force who have said they would accept my transferred SEARCH score in an application. Question is: would I be able to submit a second application to another force whilst a current application is still in process? Way I see it is that if my interview in the current application goes tits up then I have another chance with a different force relatively soon after the fact. Let me know. Cheers.
