Hi, I have a question regarding police pensions. I have been paying into a company pension scheme now for ten years, I am hoping to make a career change into the police. Would the police pension allow me to transfer me current pension pot into it? Due to my age I could do 25 years service and retire at 55 or 30 years and retire at 60. Keen on making the career move however don't want do effect a future pension in a negative way.

Having just seen this being talked about on social media, I thought I'd see who wants to share their opinion. I have read through a couple of the case studies and it appears the general consensus is the Police do not deal with missing children with enough empathy or interest. Children who have gone missing claim they are dealt with poorly and that Officers repotedly treat them 'like criminals'. A 15 year-old-girl talked of how she was made to feel guilty about how much she had cost the Police Force in trying to locate her. Do you have driving authority? If so, to what level? Are you compliance stop trained? How much over the A to B driver authority did you do to be compliance stop trained? In the following force policy documents (various forces) the "basic"/"authorised" level of driver appears to automatically allow compliance stops for those with the powers to do so. In the US (Oh no he's comparing us the US), there's a lot more pomp and ceremony behind being a Police Officer. For instance, they'll wear there No.1 Dress when they get married and they'll do the same at a Police Funeral. There's more emphasis on saluting higher ranks, they do a daily roll call where they present their appointments for inspection to their Sgt. I was wondering - Why don't we do this? The UK is easily one of the most pomp and ceremonious places in the world, just look at the queens birthday! But as Police Officers we don't really do this? I've been considering ways in which British policing is inefficient and could be improved. It has been driven by the Home Sec as part of her reform agenda, and while forces have made cutbacks and savings and moved the pieces to try and ride out the storm, it seems to me that the real inhibitor of useful reform (reform that benefits people in the system and using the system) are our procedures governed law, not internal policies. Also the prehistoric technology and difficulty of information sharing - which some forces are attempting to rectify. Can anyone recommend any legislation to charge suspects with for when they refuse to provide their PIN or password for their mobile phone? I have found that S.49 RIPA won't be authorised unless the offence is very serious. The sort of related offences I am having trouble with are Possession With Intent to Supply Class A. The quantity of drugs is usually around 50-100 deals. The S.49 criteria requires larger quantities, i.e several kilos. Typical scenario: Stop search, 50 wraps of class A found, 2 mobiles phones. So my force issues us with a natty Samsung gadget that has virtually replaced all paperwork that needs to be taken out of the nick. This includes the PNB. Our ePNB has the ability to use hotkeys to insert predefined text so people are using it for the DASH questions, contemp interviews, arrest notes, etc. So, PolCommers, what else could we use the hotkeys for?

Hello all, How much pre learning is needed prior to IPLDP? The reason I ask is because I undertook my PLC (as it was back in the day) in 2013 so its a few years old now and although I apply the learning as an SC I'm a bit worried that I can't really remember a lot word for word and section for section so to speak. However on the other hand the force I am going into had dropped the person requirement which can now be any level , pre experience etc so I'm just wondering whether it is likely we will be taught all of the information again on our 15 week course? Not sure how this will go down but i have notice that with a higher demand for CID officers than in previous years. With that being said, i was thinking about ways to recruit more detectives into the police force. Here are ways that police forces could go about recruiting more detectives without having to spend a minimum of two years as a regular uniformed police officer before applying (which could save costs and free up more positions for those looking to stay in Uniform). Whilst i understand policing experience is more than likely essential before doing detective work, i believe that these changes could essentially attract those solely interested in joining criminal in…
