Driving past a car park with 4 or 5 marked police cars and a police officer standing at the side of the road what seemed to me directing random cars into the car park from the main road. It looked like they were using the breathalyser on the drivers. Are these drivers being pulled over under section 163 RTA? If so, do they have to give their name and address as the 163 RTA only states; Power of police to stop vehicles. a friend of mine received a private parking ticket early last year, on friday he received a letter from a debt collection agency asking him to cough up or they'll take him to civil court. What are the current powers of enforcement as I understand new legislation was introduced not too long ago regarding private parking fines.

What happens if someone in another country without any extradition agreement to the UK commits a contempt of court offense, like revealing trial details? I guess nothing can be done?

Something interesting (or at least I thought so) that came out of a job I dealt with recently. I've put my question into a made up scenario for clarity. A couple go to an all you can eat restaurant. One of the pair pays and they both sit down at a table. 1) The paying half of the couple enjoys their food and the non-paying member doesn't have anything to eat or drink. I did something really stupid. that I'm ashamed and embarassed of, around 20 odd years ago, and I'm afraid it will affect my chances of getting a job . I got "in trouble with the police" around the age of 14-15 (20 or so years ago now). The police came to my house, and spoke to me by myself (my parents were outside of the room, and the door was closed). Without going into too much detail, let's just say that I was a young boy just discovering that I was turning into a teenager, and I was a bit too close to my bedroom window. My 17 year old brother tells me that he was taken to the police station and "told off" by the police officer for being with a friend who shoplifted. He is unsure if he was reprimanded and no one has contacted his parents to advise them that he was at the police station. He states that he was not arrested, and does not think so as he was not in the custody suite or put in a cell.

These two are related and its a bit complicated! First of all, is there actually any point in reporting animal cruelty to the police - I realise its against the law, but am I better off approaching the RSPCA first. The case in question is now being investigated by the RSPCA and is not remotely local to me, but I have (and have supplied) video evidence. I was pulled over by the police for suspected drink driving as i had been seen leaving a pub car park. The officer asked me to get out and do a breathaliser which was fine. The officer then said my car smelt of drugs so i was left in the police car with one officer and the other searched my car. He left my car boot open and up and came back to the car with my brothers wallet asking why i had someone elses bank cards. Then someone walked past took my ipad out of the boot and did a runner the police chased him but he got away. Police took the bank cards and my brother collected them from the police station. In my duty kit bag, I carry a firemans lift key which can be used to gain access to communal areas of blocks of flats. Very handy when trade doesn't open the door and you want to go in discreetly for warrants etc. I can justify the legality of carrying that "key" (in reality its just a metal stick with some holes in it) BUT Can we justify carrying "bumping keys" in our kit bag. For those that don't know what they are, they are like a blank key which can be used to open almost any door (With some technical knowhow). Furthermore, does anyone carry bumping keys with them? I feel they can be useful for carrying out s17 when an enforcer is not available. Thoughts?

Hi. I'm not looking for legal advice... A bit of back story first. In the past I've witnessed an act of vandalism (a group of kids were smashing a car up). I had a supplier turn up at work demanding payment for an invoice that is in duspute, I wrote to them 2 weeks ago and they did not respond! They turned up and verbally abuse me on the intercom to work premises stating "if we do not have a meeting today, they will find where I live..." and both directors were ranting other physical threats with every expletive. Hi, im new to the forum. Just curious as to whats so wrong with swearing at the police and why do people get arrested for it? Is it because the police dont want to seem to look like pushovers and are just using there power? Thanks for any responses

I was just wondering what powers, if any, police officers have with regarding seeing people drinking alcohol on the bus and tube. And have any of you ever approached such a person and what did you do?
