The Locker Room

Hello and welcome to the Policespecials.com Forum awards! This forum has been really useful to me throughout my Specials training and I've no doubt that it'll continue to be useful to me now that I'm an officer. It’s because of the great help and advice available on the forum that I decided to set up the Forum awards. The aim of these awards is to recognise the people that add the most to our online community. There are some outstanding individuals on this forum who have a huge wealth of knowledge and the advice they provide can be invaluable. The awards are going to work in two stages. The first stage is the nominat…

Morning all. How are we today?

On Saturday morning, Commando 999 raised money for the "Royal Marines Family" by attempting to break the world speed march record. They tried to carry kit and weapons weighing over 40lbs (18kg) 26.2 miles (42km) through central London in under four hours 19 minutes to commemorate the Royal Marines' 350th birthday. The Royal Marines were quicker than previous attempts but did not beat the record as one man had to pull out half a mile before the end. They completed the race around London in four hours, 17 minutes and 21 seconds. They raised more than £20,000 to help Royal Marines who have been affected mentally and physically by war. Wouldn't it be nice if that arch …

So for most people, their phones are the most important things in their life, particularly among the younger generations. I've seen some people go to pretty extreme lengths to recover their phone, but what I saw last night was something else... A girl had dropped her iPhone down inside a portaloo. She was in mass panic so asked the first aiders for a pair of latex gloves and found a small stick and started wading through a collective pool of people's turds so she could pick it out. I don't care how much my phone cost or what was on it, there is no way I'd have the stomach to do that! Would you? What is the most extreme thing you've done to recover your phone?

Morning All How many will be on parade duties today?

It isn't only Police Officers who are getting shafted by Cameron and Co, this is happening to hundreds of soldiers. On 13 June this year, Sergeant Michael Anderson, was told he is to be made redundant just three days before qualifying for his military pension. This means Michael will lose almost half of his promised pension. Michael has been a soldier from the age of 16. He was serving in Northern Ireland at 18, and at 19 was posted to Bosnia followed by a tour in Iraq in 2004. He is now a Welfare Officer and has had the difficult task of supporting families of soldiers killed in action and the severely physically and mentally injured. Our family, like all service…

First and foremost. i know this community is very protective of operational info and i ask mods to edit or delete this whole thread as they see fit. Here in the States, we get alot of surplus military/police equipment from both local and foreign sources for sale to the public. I recently became aware of this item, billed as a British "military" stab proof vest http://shop.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=1317483&criteo=3&utm_source=Criteo&utm_medium=rmktg&utm_campaign=Banner%20Remarketing&utm_content=criteo3 It looks alot like a Police vest. Can anyone give me a suggestion as to what model this may be.

I've had a really bad night. Fingers crossed tomorrow works out better for me! Hope you all have a really good Saturday though :new_yummy: Plenty of layers if you're on duty today - it's getting really chilly outside now!

Technically news but might as well saves the mods a job A group of people dressed as Batman, Robin, David Hasselhoff and a Smurf helped police officers catch a criminal in an East Lothian supermarket. A man dressed as Robin was on Eskview Road in Musselburgh when he was assaulted just before 20:00 on Friday. He and his friends, who were all in fancy dress, called police before chasing the attacker into Tesco. After a scuffle in the toilet roll aisle, a 21-year-old man was arrested. He later pled guilty in court. 'Sorry Tesco' The incident came to light after East Lothian Police tweeted about it, thanking the fancy-dressed group for their help. One Tweet read: "Than…

It might be that I'm of a generation that thinks there are too many 'gadgets' and the like in cars these days. Some new cars have these 'touch screen' things in the centre of the dash board that controls everything from BBC Radio 2 to reading your trips and MPG. Steering wheels have control buttons for your radio volume, channel change and even your mobile telephone. There are 'paddles' for gear changes (if you like being a racing driver) and ports for MP3 players and the like. These are only some of the numerous toys that are now fitted as standard to the modern family saloon or hatch-back. Have we gone a step too far do you think?
