Beware. Contains spoilers. Anyone seen the film 'The Awakening'? I've now seen it and thought it was really good, a solid film. But the end hell confused the hell out of me! Did Florence (lead character) die or not? My take is that she was made to vomit and survived, but the housekeeper died (killing herself with Florence) that the headmaster was going to put down to an accident. It really wasn't clear at all, but that's my take and the one that I would like to believe.

Thought I'd share with you a little video which has made me smile tonight. AJ McCarron is the Quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide and will most likely play in the NFL next season. If anyone isn't aware, a big school college quarterback is a heck of a big deal in the US and it's brilliant to see how he's looking out for those perhaps less fortunate than himself. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=10233231 I hope you enjoy.

It appears the LAPD are taking a tough line on jaywalking. I did get pulled over years ago by a motorcycle officer for doing it there - ironically while on the way to a police station for a ride-along! http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/26/us/in-a-car-culture-clash-its-los-angeles-police-vs-pedestrians.html?src=me Whilst one can argue about the rights and wrongs, my favourite bit has to be the quote on page 2 ref the lawyer who said he 'cussed' them about for about 5 minutes telling them how they were wasting time etc. Course if he'd just accepted the ticket maybe it would have taken less time. Lawyers - what a career some missed in Billy Smart's Circus.

You might have noticed that there is a monthly photography competition in the locker room. It runs on a monthly (ish) basis with a theme decided upon by the previous months winner. There is no greater glory available to a ps.com forum member than to have a photograph they have taken, shared on here, with the other members electing that picture to be the best of the month. Once upon a time, you used to get a medal ribbon, but no longer (due to forum software restructuring). Now you get a warm fuzzy feeling and occasionally a tweet about it to 2600+ followers @policespecials (that beats a few dozen people seeing your photos on facebook doesn't it?) Anyway, a new introduct…

It's the last day of 2013... for those who are working tonight, I hope it's a peaceful occasion, and for those seeing in the new year with a celebration I hope it's a raucous one!! I'm off to a friend's house tonight, but we won't be up to anything too exciting, just having a good ol' natter with a bit of telly... no alcohol either - she's got an early start the next day driving up to Leeds, and I'm still recovering from a drink or two on Saturday night!
