MY NEW NAME IS IN THE SUBJECT BOX ABOVE ......BUT DON'T LAUGH UNTIL YOU FIND OUT WHAT YOUR NEW NAME IS We all need a little stress-reliever. This only takes a minute. Sometimes when you have a stressful day or week, you need some silliness to break up the day. If we are honest, we have a lot more stressful days than not. Here is your dose of humor.... A. Follow the instructions to find your new name. B. Once you have your new name, put it in the subject box and forward it to friends and family & co-workers. Don't forget to forward it back to the person who sent it to you so they know your new name. And don't go all adult - a senior manager is now kn…

This is a thread for ideas like the one below from Sister Purity. I've put it in Gen Chat so that non-policing ideas can be put in it as well. I'm sure I don't need to say be careful not to give away any things which should be kept schtum about, but ideas like SP's are so good they could be shared.

Sometimes I struggle to get my head around things the fairer sex come out with. This morning, I accompanied "her indoors", Mrs B, to the supermarket, where she spotted an old crony called Julie from her days in the building trade: Mrs B "..and how's Trevor?" (I subsequently discovered that Trevor is Julie's eldest son and is a steelworker) Julie: "Ooooh! He's in hospital! He was working up on a gantry and the beam collapsed. He fell nearly thirty feet onto the concrete floor." Mrs B : "Oh my goodness! How is he?" Julie: "Broke his right leg, right arm and cracked three ribs" Mrs B: "Oooh! He was lucky" Julie: "Yeah. Really lucky!" I felt an almost overpoweri…

House of Lords rule Abu Qatada can be deported to Jordan. He can appeal to the European Court of Human Rights. Abu Qatada can be deported: It is a victory for the Home Office which had appealed against a court decision preventing Qatada's deportation on the grounds he may face unfair treatment in Jordan…… Sky News Ron Barker2009-02-18 10:16:30

... if you want to get on. Apparently Jeremy Clarkson's decription of Gordon Brown is "Unforgiveable" Why? What part of "One-eyed Scottish idiot" is unforgiveable? It seems like a very accurate description to me.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/devon/7897366.stm This female really pi$$es me off. She has no idea of parenting skill, but blames everyone but herself for her daughters demise, and is full of self pity. She leaves a 15 girl, in the care of a Tour Guide whom she had only known for three weeks, living in a dirty caravan, on a beach in Goa, while she bogs off to another country. I am really surprised she hasn't been charged with child neglect or something similar. Maverick222009-02-19 09:04:43

When you hear some woman going on about 3.9 million kids being "in poverty" what does that mean? Does anybody know the set of criteria - presuming there is one? Surely it's relative!?!?

Sky is replacing some of it's PACE HD boxes because of some sort of fault..... http://news.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/hi/technology/newsid_7894000/7894752.stm I've just checked mine and it's one of the models listed - although Sky has yet to advise me that some chap, who looks like he should still be at school, is going to come round my house and replace my HD box. AND I'm going to get three months of HD services for free. Neat!!! The downside is that I'm going to have to put all my bloody favourites and series links in again..............now THAT is annoying!
