So. Some group decides that it's not fair that women have cheaper insurance than blokes, so goes to the European Courts about it being sexist. And win. So, and this is the bit that must have been obvious to all and sundry before making this complaint, the insurance companies are going to increase their premiums for women drivers based on nothing more than their sex - not the likelihood that they'll have or cause more crashes - but their sex. Superb. You couldn't make it up. So, and I'm just trying to work it out - the insurance companies are going to make a fortune out of this decision....is that right???? I'm all for sex equality, but this is ridiculous..........t…

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/politics/portsmouth_50m_swimming_pool_too_narrow_to_host_olympic_games_1_2464398 Portsmouth’s newest swimming pool is long enough to meet Olympic standards, the city council has insisted. But the pool does not have the width it would need for the Games to be held there. The council measured the pool at the £5m Mountbatten Centre again after it became the subject of a row over whether it could accurately be called an Olympic-standard facility. As reported in The News, Tory councillors claimed it fell short of the 50m length required for Olympic races. The council said in response that the pool was long enough for training purposes, …

Flt Sgt Henry Hiscox RAFVR July 1944 was a WWII rear gunner with 75 New Zealand Sqn RAF on Lancaster's. He is buried in Beesel Holland. Below is the story that has been added to wikimapia by me and Barrie ex AAC Sgt Pilot and Market Garden also on this site. His CWG has been tended to by a Dutch lady since the 1960. In 2006 she did receive a thank you from the Mayor of Bessel and has the admiration of the whole town of Beesel. So far that the Children and the Dutch hold each year the Remembrance day at his grave side on the 4th of MAY. What we are going to try and get is a thank you from out the UK as till now this has not been had…

The Portsmouth News - Friday 11 February 2011 The government has been accused of pulling Royal Navy warships out of the Caribbean because Trinidad & Tobago cancelled a £150million deal to buy three patrol ships from BAE Systems. The Caribbean nation pulled out of a purchase of three offshore patrol vessels from BAE in September last year - despite the ships nearing completion at Portsmouth Naval Base. The Navy announced this week that it will not have a warship on patrol in the region for the first time since the Second World War. "This is just an example of what countries will do to you when you interfere with them" said Trinidad & Tobago MP Colm Imbert. He a…

It is interesting to note that Ms Chakrabarti is not only head of Liberty but also a member of the LSE Council that accepted funds from the Gaddafi regime. Presumbly, she was unaware of the human rights violations that have occcurred over the years under Col Gaddafi's regime. Or, perhaps, she didn't think they were important ........... whatever, double standards seem to come into play - perhaps she ought to do the right thing and resign her Liberty post justa as the director of LSE has resigned his position and admitted to his errors of judgement. Or maybe I am being unreasonable ....................

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-12613070 " "Hospitals have been told to remain vigilant over hospital waiting times amid concerns standards could slip. In a letter to staff, NHS chief Sir David Nicholson said there seemed to be "misunderstandings" since monitoring of the target was relaxed last year. But he said patients still had to be seen within the 18-week target in England despite the move." Hospital waiting times are a very sore point with me just now. These targets are causing patients real problems, in my view. Why? Because hospitals are achieving these targets by seeing the patient within th 18 week target, but they're not actually sorting …

http://www.policeoracle.com/news/Fire-Service-Managers-Charged_31359.html I think the decision by the CPS to prosecute these managers will have a very detrimental effect on the actions of Chief Fire officers, and sub officers at the scenes of fires. If innocent people are trapped in a house or anywhere else, there is a good chance that firemen will be told, ''don't go in to rescue them'', or we may get sued if you die or get seriously injured. We have already had one case in Cambridgeshire where a sub officer refused to let his men go into a ditch to rescue a man with a broken back, until the Health and Safety man arrived, because he did know how cold or deep the wat…

This pile of dog sh*te is hoping to get all petrol delivery drivers out on strike to cripple the UK. Tanker drivers are overpaid as it is, they are just 'lorry drivers' and nothing else. He says that if HMG try to get the army to deliver petrol he will call the whole of country out on a General Strike.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/8350594/Police-spend-11000-on-new-slogan.html I am sure that the whole population of Cumbria now feel very very safe, after Cumbria spent over £10,000 on a new Slogan. Gil Shearer has doubled safety overnight, what a clever woman.

Has anyone been watching the above on Sky? What did you think? Quite similar in style to his previous documentaries but equally as shocking. Certainly makes you appreciate how fortunate we are living in the UK compared to places like the Democratic Republic of the Congo where he visited in last night's episode. Well worth a watch if you haven't yet seen it.
