Just wondered if anyone had experience with the OU? Have studied normally by going away to Uni after college, and have also done distance learning before alongside work when qualifying in my previous life. Am looking for something new to do in my spare time so thought I'd take up a subject that interested me, just be nice to hear some honest OU opinions rather than their sales pitches!

In a city where most politicos and their appointees are either outright corrupt (and if they haven't been caught yet, they are just about to be) or are totally ineffectual (considering the way Congress has behaved in the last year and currently, I'll throw them in with the rest of DC's elected and appointed), I was happy to see this article about the one person in this town who not only knows her job but does her job: our police chief

I have a list of videos that make me laugh. This is another one of them. And I want to share it with you. It is police related, but it doesn't include any real policing. It's a bit long, but bear with it.

Seeing the posts in the traffic cops thread they reminded me of this joke, sorry it's a bit long. "Last weekend I saw something at the Pawn Shop that sparked my interest. The occasion was our 22nd anniversary, and I was looking for a little something extra for my wife. What I came across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse-sized Taser. The consequences of the Taser were supposed to be short lived, with no long-term adverse effects on her assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety.... WAY TOO COOL! Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home. I loaded two triple-A batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed. I …

My mum is a very depressed person. And says very depressing things at times. One thing she said to me was this: Life is like a bucket of water. You put your hand in. You take it out. There is a ripple or a wave. After a while, the water becomes still again. Obviously this means that you enter life, you support people, and when you leave people become upset, things change for a while. Then everything goes back to normal. I have been thinking about this for a while. And one day out of the blue, I thought the following: Life is like a bucket of water. You put your hand in. You take it out. There is a ripple or a wave. After a while, the water becomes still again. A goo…

Torchwood: Miracle Day – why must UK fans wait a week for the new series? With Torchwood: Miracle Day going out in the UK six days later than in America, will fans be tempted to illegally download it? Torchwood finally returns next month, with a new drama in its sails. Miracle Day emerges a whole two-years after the terrible events of the (not-terrible-at-all) Children Of Earth mini-series. The hold-ups are due to a complex co-production deal between BBC Worldwide Productions, BBC Cymru and US premium network Starz. But fans in the UK will have to wait even longer for their Torchwood hit.Yesterday, the BBC confirmed that the show will hit British screens on July 14

As it meanders through the Lancashire village of Burscough on a warm July afternoon, the Leeds to Liverpool Canal forms a peaceful backdrop to many of the sights you might expect on a stretch of rural towpath. There are gaily-painted barges bedecked with geraniums, fishermen casting their lines into the water and families enjoying ice-creams under the summer sun. And then, of course, there is a portly man dressed in the uniform of a German submarine commander and standing in the turret of a U-boat. 'It's not going to fire at us, is it?' asks an elderly lady, out walking her poodle, but the residents of Burscough need not be concerned. The vessel is named U-8047. It's …
