http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-13558360 He claimed for things he hadn't used and felt it was all right to do so because the expenses, though technically for expenses, was viewed by people as an allowance. And he felt morally it as OK to claim expenses to cover things he was out of pocket from when doing his voluntary public duties. This is an interesting general argument. And I bet loads of people are guilty of the same attitude but on a much smaller scale. One thing that concerns me is the remark from the Prosecution that if you can't afford it, you shouldn't be a peer. This means that only the wealthy can control the Upper House, and that's not h…

I ordered some perfume from Amazon costing around £35, as a gift for a friend. It was sent through Home Delivery Network Limited.. I checked the tracking number and it says it's been delivered, only it hasn't been delivered to MY house. The item was supposedly delivered at 1910, when I was on the train home. Rather than leaving a card, the incompetent driver chose to deliver it to someone else, I would've preferred he left a card for me to arrange redelivery. And now a dishonest neighbour of mine has knowingly signed for it and is probably enjoying my friends perfume, and since his birthday is on Sunday, I've not got anything to give him. I've tried calling the numb…

Currently, it seems, the new "religion" being led by Al Gore is the idea that mankind is responsible for global climate change. The prophecy is that we are all doomed unless we reduce our CO2 emissions into the Earth's atmosphere. The government is introducing and increasing taxes - such as fuel taxes and the £10 per flight "leaving Britain tax". This is supposed to make us "Carbon Neutral" - but does it affect our emissions? Terms like "Carbon footprint" have appeared, and it is said we should all feel guilty because we are all individually and collectively responsible for the impending end of the world. Are we being conned? ex-job-ex-pat2007-08-14 12:09:42

I have just seen something on the rolling news which was along the lines of Oliver Letwin putting official papers in a waste bin somewhere. I didn't watch the hole report (bad for the BP) it only winds me up. But to give the benefit of the doubt,at this stage anyway, would a guy in his position put some papers like that in a waste bin,it would be like any police officer doing the same with an IRB or a set of NFA'd case papers,it would be unheard of. Could it be that the press are making something out of nothing I ask myself.

On Newsnight(BBC2)ex MP Eric Illsley, was interviewed by Jeremy Paxman. Illsley was released from prison after serving his sentence for fiddling his expences, in the region of £13,000 pounds. He had pleaded guilty and had no complaint about how he was treated. His gripe was that there were over 120 MP's who fiddled more money than he did, but it seems very selective in the way people were prosecuted. We had Dr Liam Fox, who fiddled over £22,000 pounds, but was allowed to pay it back and was not prosecuted. Jackboot Jacqui fiddled over £108,000 in rent for one room in her sisters house, but was not even required to pay any money back, and was not prosecuted. We had…
