Hi there, I won't go into too much specific detail for obvious reasons, but I attested as a Special within the last few months - a proud day to receive that handshake and warrant card after putting my heart and soul into training for 6 months prior. Before attesting I had my induction with my borough and SSgt who seemed keen to have me on-board, however after I had attested I heard nothing. Thinking little of it, I took the initiative and contacted them first to thaw the ice and get my name heard/seen once again. No reply. It has now been a 'few months' with absolutely nothing in response - however I have still been receiving email updates from my SSgt on the exact addr…

Hi All, I'm planning to apply to join as a special soon. But I a bit worried about the financial side of vetting. I tried checking my credit history on Noddle, and it seems that it can't find anything. My colleague said that it could be because I'm not on the electoral roll. I'm not a British citizen, I'm here on a indefinite leave to remain, therefore, I can't join the electoral roll. I don't have a criminal record. Neither most of my family, except for a cousin (which I do not have any contact) that was arrested but not charged. I live with my mother and step-dad, so, I don't really have anything on my name. My phone is on a monthly rolling contract. I don't hav…

Hello all. I have my day 2 next week and I have no idea what to put for my borough preference. The only boroughs I've received info on are Camden, Westminster and Hackney and would appreciate anyone's views and opinions on any other Northern boroughs. I live in Sheffield and only plan on staying in London whilst I'm on shift, on my days off I'll be returning home. I don't know if I'll be traveling by car or train yet as this depends on the borough I choose. Ideally I'd like to drive to and from the station rather than using public transport so boroughs with parking would be ideal. I'm also a special at the moment for South Yorkshire and I only do response and public…

I have my third lesson of OST next week and we are all going to be tested on the different Cuff techniques and I am worrying-about-this-matter-to-such-a-high-degree-I-may-defecate-imminently. :new_sorry: I'm not sure why I find it so difficult but I do, I'm just a bit awkward with my hands so I think that's where I struggle. I'm fine with everything else to do with OST but Cuffs is where I struggle. Anyone have any tips or suggestions? My boyfriend is already in the job so he's going to get his cuffs from the station so I can practise but I'm still really nervous about this pass or fail part of OST. Any suggestions or tips are useful Thanks

I was just wondering if any other Borough in the MET was being forced to volunteer Friday and Saturday night only shifts at the moment? I have been serving as a special in Hounslow for around about 7 months and this has just been forced upon us until January. I signed up to 16 hours a month and figured I could volunteer these hours around my lifestyle and current employment. At the moment I am struggling to find any time to volunteer because of this.

Just wondering how many people from the forum have applied for the met regulars? I've got my day 2 on the 26th at empress state, it would be nice to see if anyone from my day 1 (oct 16th) had passed as quite a few were specials. Also providing everything goes well does anybody know about free/discounted travel with the met as I'll be either traveling it from Sheffield daily or staying at a hotel somewhere cheap just outside of London and traveling in. The joys.. Thanks
