Hey guys and girls, Putting this in the Met section due to the location I'm looking to move to, but if mods prefer to move then so be it! I am looking to move into a new place this side of Xmas and I'm trying to find a flat mate. Ideally I would like to find a place in North Greenwich as it is on a tube line and also on the A2 for commuting down to Kent where I have family. My day 1 for Kent police is this month too so would be great for me. About me, I'm 24 male and currently a special in Lewisham. I work full time and like I said, hoping to be joining Kent Police as a regular shortly. I am happy to live with 1 or 2 other, male/females doesnt bother me as long as yo…

For those in the know, or closer to the rumour mill than I. When are the met likely to be taking PC transfers? I see they are currently looking for inspectors but have not advertised for pc's for a little while. Thanks in advance

I have disappointingly failed my vetting to become a Special with the Met police. i was even given a start date for the 8th September and can not believe how far I've gotten with my application process then to be given this news. I myself have had no interaction with the police apart from me trying to become a special. I completed my appeal form yesterday and already sent it of via email. I believe the reason for my failing vetting may be due to my two step brothers who have had incidents with the police in the past. I honestly answered all questions truthfully and had no reason to lie... In my appeal i noted that i have no interaction with my two older step brothers, no…

Hi all, So I think the last round was Feb/March. And I have heard from the ever reliable gossip grapevine that another batch of internal recruitment is due September or October. I have not seen anything on aware at the time of writing but I am keen to know (as I guess many of you may be also) if anyone has heard or seen anything relating to when recruitment is actually out? Apologies if this is posted in another thread but I cant seem to see anything relating to the next round. Shaun Ah just seen the recruitment sub forum. Moderators please feel free to move/lock/delete this topic. My question however doesn't seem to have been asked by anyone (that I can see) in t…

Just got my training start date, but I have been told conflicting things regarding the salary of a new constable in London met. The confusion comes from the additional London weighting - so basically is it £22,000 plus £6,000 or ??? Thanks for anyone who can categorically confirm the salary .

Hello everyone, I have received an email from the met specials recruitment and in that email it says that I will have the written test, interview and jrft all on the same day. Could anyone shed some light on this? This is something new the met have done and I have not even prepared for everything properly as I only started university on monday.

Good afternoon all, Just looking for a bit of information/feedback from any of you that work in Islington. I start as a probationer in October and after training etc. I will be posted there. Any information you can provide would be great. I have had a search through the forum and have found a couple of very old threads etc. that don't really provide much information, hoping for something a bit more current! Thanks in advance :new_yummy:

Good Morning everyone! Just a quick query really, I'm sure it will have been asked before but when I had a quick search I couldn't find anything! I'm on an intake very soon and shall be moving into Accomidation with my partner (Receiving our own flat via the Housing Section of the MET) and I know that section accomidation the rent includes all Bills (Water, Gas, etc etc) so it is one fixed rent price straight out of wages. I was just wondering is it the same when you move into Met accomidation with your Partner? I have been given a Rent Price Per Mont for our flat (which is a bargain!) but I haven't been told if that rent for the flat is the same as the rent for the S…

I was on a Southwest Trains train yesterday going down to Hampshire and had shown the guard my warrant card and rail pass earlier in the journey. Towards the latter part of the journey the guard came on the tannoy and asked if "Any Job Representatives on the train could come and meet the guard at the front of the train." I was with a friend of mine who is also a police officer and we looked at one another for a few seconds in a rather confused fashion. We had no idea what he was talking about and wondered whether he meant a police officer. After about 30 seconds we thought we had better going and take a look just in case. It turned out that he had, in fact, wanted a pol…

So I've just passed the Day 1 assessment with The Met and have been given my date for day 2 (don't know how, but hey I'm not complaining!). My question is, if I'm to pass this fitness test and everything is clear on the vetting side, is that it? Am I through to the training? Or is there something else that's going to pop up? I mean, it's just a surprisingly simple process? Thanks in advance for any answers!

Found out today I am due to be posted to XB as a PC. Excited, should be a good borough. Bit odd as my family had a house in Ealing before moving up to Newcastle (before I was born) and my girlfriend lived there last year whilst doing a year in industry during uni so I visited her quite a bit. So had quite a bit of a connection to the borough despite the fact im from up north! Just want to know a bit more about the borough and what to expect really if someone could help out!

OK, so I understand the police enforce the "Law" and obviously have to maintain a good conduct off duty. My questions is really. can a Policeman enjoy a drink obviously out of hours, without being in trouble. For example, you go to a Wedding off duty, pictures appear on Facebook of you a little "Drunk", would this be a disciplinary action or anything? Basically can the Police still go out and drink off duty? Thanks in advance.
