Metropolitan Police (London)

Hi everyone, first time posting here. I'm interested in becoming a police officer and I was wondering what are the promotion opportunities like for a new officer? I understand for the first 2 years you are on probation and you'll be on the beat, but how long until you can actually move forward and start progressing up the ranks? I'm interested in joining since I believe this can be a lifelong career for me but I'm hesitant to join if I'm going to be stuck on the beat for ages while hoping I get a chance to go higher. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

So with the new met changes about living in London I was wondering how I could join, as I live in one of the outer London counties. I have a few years till I will be applying and they may change it, but I still like to have a game plan for when i'm older. I know what you are thinking why not join your own force but I have always wanted to join the met due to other reasons. So the ideas I have: Join another force then transfer, but problem is that they don't seem to do transferring often so would be quite hard to transfer Become a special and complete my 200 hours in a few months and apply internally. Morning To all those waiting to start training next Sunday: September 14, have you received any of the above yet? Or generally speaking how soon before your training commenced did other MSC recruits receive their confirmatory letter? I know about 2/3 others like myself are still waiting for these No use chasing up HR as they said I should ask Recruitment for these as HR have finished all their checks; but Recruitment takes ages to respond to emails as a few of us have discovered. Well hope these letter/emails are sent out soonish as I'm not sure if I should just turn up at Hendon Laugh out loud without one? Any thoughts? Thanks.

Hi guys thought I would finally post and tell you all that I just passed my day1 and am now going to day 2 on the 29th July.! I applied to be posted to Merton does anyone know what its like or if its a particularly good place to go as a special? Your advice and comments would be most welcome thanks

So guys I had my Day 2 Assessment on Friday 30th Aug. I had to miss is at short notice due to my nan passing away, I sent an email on the Monday after to recruitment and have not heard back since. I also called on Tuesday and the lady just told me to await a reply from the email. Does anybody have any idea on my chances of being rescheduled or has anyone missed their assessment before? Thanks in advance. If not I will just have to phone recruitment tomorrow to chase it up.

Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone had any advice for me on this topic. Sadly I missed my Day 2 assessment for the Met the other week because I could not make the date due to me being away . I emailed them months before hand to change the date however never got a response. I have emailed them tonight asking if I could have a new date to take the assessment because i missed the one set for me. Does anyone know any the likelihood of them giving me a new date?

I started to study level 3 Public Service Diploma in College (I am 19 years old) this year and after second year in college (level 3 is two year course) I would like to join Metropolitan Police service. My situation is that I am not originally from United Kingdom (I am Lithuanian) and I live here for two years and couple of months, but I don’t reach 3 years period and I do not qualify to join the special constabulary. Hi all, I'm trying to make New Years plans, and my training starts on the 27th of October. Anybody got a rough estimate/best guess, or better still actual knowledge of how long training is at the moment? It seems to be constantly changing. The email I got said that I would be told everything a week beforehand... Any chance we get Christmas and New Years off? Training seems to be in a shift pattern now, which is a world away from when I was training as a Special at Hendon. I thought a 9-5 was one of the main draws of joining the training team? Still no weekend night shifts though

Hello, I know there have been a few topics along these lines, so I hope no-one minds me posting another one. I passed my Day 2 last week and (assuming security checks & training go ok) will be choosing between Ealing and Hillingdon. So... advice please! I live just outside the M25 on the M40, so distance is an issue. And I'm more keen on doing weekend day shifts (maybe 2pm til 10pm Saturday or Sunday) rather than the usual Friday nights. And 4-hour weekday evening shifts would be good too, if short shifts are allowed. Other than that, I'd just like to have a decent mix of work and be somewhere where Specials are well respected and utilised. I guess having the …

I've just been locked out from crimint because I barely use it since I have become a special. Has this happened to anyone before and how can I unlock it or prevent it from ever happening again? Any help would be greatly appreciated
