I was going through a pile of old papers and junk at home last night. I happened to find a demonstration mock EAB which I filled out at foundation training, back at Hendon in 2007. Does anyone remember a very nice training skipper, Scottish (probably from a posh part of Edinburgh or Fife judging from his accent). Late 40s (at the time!). Bearded. Anyhow his EAB training regime had a rather involved story, which involved vague references to making sure the recruits correctly made a verbatimn transcription of the suspect's use of the word "cobber" instead of copper and references to a stolen stairwell. The suspect's name on the mock EAB? Rolf Harris.

Hello, my first post is going to be a bit of a stupid one since I made a huge mistake of applying for the Regulars before realizing I needed to pass that course and get the CKP! ( I was thinking of applying last year or so before this thing came in, should of reread it!) After this I felt really stupid and did some more research, I quickly found out by serving as a SC you can end up in the regular force after you spent enough time as a SC. I quickly applied for this and realized I would need to find a way to quickly cancel my previous application, problem is I cant seem to find the right person to contact. Who do I email/phone to tell them to ignore my first attempt? …

Well yesterday/last night's shift was certainly an interesting one!! I was on patrol with South NPT out and about in the appointments car, we'd finished our appointments so were just driving around checking known drugs hot spots, ASB spots and generally seeing what we come across. A call came up on an S grade requesting NPT officers to assist with what was thought to be an ASB call involving cannabis - 2 youths smoking cannabis, it absolutely stinks, it's a constant problem, reported it a few weeks ago but no police showed up. I asked where it was and we were told it was South, turns out it was North, but we took it anyway. Headed over generally thinking it would …

Hello. Is anyone on this course? First two days at Hendon then thereafter at another training school. I haven't been a special before, but from my understanding this will be a mixed bag of specials and also non experienced.

Hi I'm new to the forum, I've done plent of reading and have read some really good information. What I'm looking for in particular is information on training for msc as I am due to start September 8th mon-fri intensive course and wanted a bit of information on the structure of training. Also if there are any current specials working within in the Greenwich Borough, are you supported a lot with continuous training and pushed to aim for your IPS as I am aiming to join the regulars and just wanted to know the general working style of a special working in Greenwhich. Any information would be great

Just after an overview really of what different boroughs and areas are like from any specials or regulars in The Met. What are certain areas renowned for? Which area would you most and least like to work in and why?

For speculative purposes can any one tell me their estimate of the number of applicants that fail police vetting? Say about 1 out of 10 (a tenth) of higher? No I'm not losing me marbles. Just that some one mentioned some where else that a high proportion of ethnic applicants fail police vetting due to family connections or friends with criminal convictions. Besides I heard a comment on Panorama that most 'black' applicants from London fail the Met vetting. I found myself intrigued as to why. But the programme didn't specify the reason. There is also the delicate matter of financial vetting. If you hail from a poor socio-economic group you're bound to be seen as poor a…

Hi, Can anyone tell me who has been through the Metropolitan Police Service medical, whether the assessment requires a medical report from your GP (I have just moved areas and my old GP practice said they could not provide a medical report as I am no longer registered there and there is a 10 week wait to be registered at my new one). Cheers,
