I'm waiting on my training date and posting and was wondering whether people have tended to get their first choices when it comes to area postings? I personally went for: 1) Islington, Camden, and Westminster 2) Enfield, Hackney, and Haringey 3) Lambeth, Southwark, and Lewisham

Can anyone give me the official line on SC's from other forces joining, who have done 200 hours pro rata and are Independent Patrol, and if they still require the CKP? Thanks

So I've got my very first response team shift from 2200-0700 tomorrow night, it's not my first shift out, but is my first on team! Really not sure what it's going to be like and it's quite daunting knowing when I'm going to something it's because somebody actually needs me! So, if anyone has got any stories they'd like to share or can give me an idea of what to expect, I'd be grateful! Also, any tips on things to take out with me? Ben

Has anyone noticed the crime recording politics in the met is just getting more and more demanding? In the space of 3 years we our now putting cris's on for PI's, action frauds (action fraud was originally created to reduce our work) but now a cris and a action fraud must referral. It has even got to the point if we can't see a victim within the first couple of days in relation to a allegation of crime a cris must go on. We must be the only force still using officers to put crime reports on themselves, most county forces have a number or crime bureau or something? Hi, I have kept logging in my application zone and it says "congratulations you have passed the fist stage...." It has been two weeks that it is saying that and I have not heard of anything back from the Met to invite to the second stage and yes i did check my in box and spam folder everyday I was wondering why the delay? Just got my uniform. After trying on a metvest version 2 and 3, the guy gave me a version 2. I don't know whether I should be happy or sad. The version 3 looks a lot cooler, but version 2 is thinner. The guy just went "I'll give you this one" and sent me home with a v2. What version do you guys prefer?

Hello all, After months of refusing to even consider moving down to London and trying my chances with the Met, I am now seriously considering doing so. I am the first to admit I am probably spitting out my dummy due to another failure to get into my own force as a PC but honestly believe the Met has many more opportunities career wise and would be a great place to sharpen my teeth and learn new skills. I recently passed all the pre-training application process and i have been invited to a 'mandatory' presentation, but i can find very little information on what this involves. It starts early morning and has no planned end time, so i am curious. Can anyone shed any light on what this may be about?

Just a quick question here, are special constables able to be attached to special units, I am talking about Q cars, gang task force, football intelligence ? If so, is it recommended to request this or is the decision out of your hands ? I am hoping to work in Newham, Tower Hamlets, Haringey if all goes well. Many Thanks

Attended my first day 1 nearly 2months ago, & just found out my result by contacting hr as their always busy. It was great to hear I passed my written test! But failed the interview sadly. However hr said I'll be contacted soon with a resit interview date which is great to hear So fingers crossed this time. Any advice would be great to help me prepare. Thanks

I was reading an old standard the other day in work. It was talking about the gang problem in London. However as serving officers do you really think that we have a proper gang problem. You read about the street gangs in the USA, South America and even in parts of Europe and they seem like proper criminals involved intricately in the drugs trade and serious organised crime. They tend to be armed and use violence over tiny indiscretions Over here the street gangs seem like just kids hanging out on street corners. I went on line to enquire about this and saw that the deadline's passed. I have just been declined for a Barclay postgraduate loan for an MSc in Criminology despite being offered a place at a top rated Uni with a good transcript. Not surprised however as in the current climate Banks are unwilling to lend students ten grand; gutted though. I feel the Met graduate scheme is one viable option. 1. Does anyone know when if ever this scheme would re-open? 2. Were you a special/going through the assessment process and then applied for the Met graduates? I wonder how that works. 3.
