Hello all, A question for the greybeards of the forum! I've recently joined the Mighty Met and I'm still slowly learning the 'Met' way of doing things with all the relevant processes and procedures. One thing I used to do reasonably often in my old job was report people for summons in my notebook before going back to the nick and cobbling a file together. I've asked several people on my team, including my supervisor, how you would report someone here but either people don't know or say it's not used in the Met as a means of dealing with things outside of traffic. So, could someone please tell me how you would go about reporting for non-traffic jobs? (I understand for t…

Hi Everyone, So I've got my final KEE on Saturday, can't actually believe it's all within touching distance now :D However, I've had a stinking cold all week and I have hardly been able to revise, I suspect I'll still be ill on Saturday when I take KEE 3 and I was wondering is there any leniency? I've been told conflicting things - one being that you have to pass it as it's the last and most important and the other being that they will weigh you up as a whole if you're a few marks off. I've been spot on throughout my training even getting 44/45 in KEE 1 and my stop/search/arrest being one of the best the trainer had seen, I've always been on time and in correct unifo…

I am a Serving Special Constable with the Metropolitan Police. My annoyance is at the MET/some other forces for making Special Constables work their absolute backsides off for Independent Patrol Status which takes 6 Months at a MINIMUM, that is if you volunteer almost full time and 18 Months on average. Whereas CKP applicants only need fork out £800 - £900 for a qualification, which from what I hear is not very difficult at all, and then pass a PC Day 1 which they get FREE support for included in their CKP package. What an absolute kick in the teeth! Please reassure me that I am not wasting my time.

Hello there I initially applied in January for the specials and had my day 1 in March, day 2 in May. Put everything honestly on the forms including the fact I'm on a debt management plan which I've been on for 4.5 years. It's not an IVA, I've never had any CCJs or been made bankrupt. Got put on medical hold afterwards cos of medication but finally passed in July. Got an email in September offering me both a training date in December and my borough. All going well I thought. In October I received the devastating news I'd failed vetting. I called and asked why and after a while I was told it was due to my financial situation. Needless to say I was and still am totally d…

Hi all, Back in Jan 2012 I applied to be a volunteer with my local police station. I had the interview and was awaiting my vetting clearance. April had come and still no response so I was in constant contact with my MVP manager by telephone and email. June was around the corner and still nothing. Olympics came up and was told that the vetting department is under immense stress, please wait until November. November came and cut along story short, was told to redo the vetting forms as they'd been misplaced and either post them or I can meet my MVP manager at the station. Earlier this month, I withdraw my application as its been well over 1 year and still the vetting depart…

In the Day 2 pack, I'm asked to bring in passport, birth certificate, payslips and proof of address. I don't have my birth certificate here, I have a feeling I know where it is but it'd be a guess. I think it's in a locked box and that the key is missing. In the family home. Several hundred miles away. The other bumf is suggestive that a passport is sufficient. Does anyone know or am I going to have to call HR?

Hello, I have my assessment day two booked and was wondering what type of drug test will be conducted? I do not smoke drugs but my house mates that I live with at uni, are hard cannabis smokers. (Not my friends) I have never done a hair drug test before, is this likely to happen? If so will I fail due to passive smoke? Thanks

Hi all, Due to start training soon and have a query regarding OST. On the new OST refresher courses you now have to do the JRFT, is this the same with training on just for the refresher courses? Thanks

Does anyone know if there is an offical policy in place with the Met in regards to transferring assesment centre passes? I currently have a valid pass of over 55% and I am wondering if the Met accept them?

Dear Special Constable Applicant Further to the email that you received from us on 12 February 2014, we are pleased to tell you that with effect from next week we are ready to re-open the processing of our live MSC applications. Hello, I have my Day 2 on Wednesday to be a Police Constable. I just wanted to enquire about the references. Whilst back home from uni on holidays and since I have finished uni, I have been employed and had near perfect attendance with almost no sick days... However, my uni attendance for a course that I didn't particularly enjoy is obviously not as glowing. I see a job as very important and I don't want to let an employer down. Uni on the other hand, I saw more along the lines of as long as I got good grade (I got a 2:2), my attendance didn't matter as much. So, I am confident with my employment references. But, will the recruitment people take my university attendanc…

Hi guys and girls, Quick question. I got my offer letter today from the met for MSC training, and found out that I'll be training over at Marlowe house. However this journey is impossible to do on a Sunday morning on public transport for someone who doesn't drive? So question is are the met likely to change this for me? Thanks
