With the recent change to the MSC management I wanted to gauge the feelings of Specials towards these changes; How do you view the new management How has the introduction of S/Chief Inspectors affected you What can the MSC SLT do to improve the MSC. Remember, Please be professional in your answers but feel free to be honest.

So I was thinking how my force could improve the special's experience, what courses etc could be offered. One of the key ones that always gets mentioned is response driving. I've thought about it, and as much as I would like to do the course (who wouldn't?), I cannot find any business case to offer it to SCs. Sure, no problem working response, but surely if there's 2 SCs and 2 PCs then It's best to put out 2 double crewed cars 1 PC and 1 SC in any case? Can they be more easily justified in the MET due to the MSC working without regular input in a lot of cases? For integrated forces can the same arguments be applied? As I know the MET used to have quite the response driv…

I'm aware it's open at the moment, but are there any indications to how long it'll be for and whether they've got a lot of future intakes filled already? I'm considering starting a CKP course next month but that'll take until May to finish so I'm hesitant in case regular recruitment finishes.

I was just wondering if anyone could help me, I passed my bleep test on January 10th and was told I would hear in about 4-6 weeks but still haven't heard anything. Should I call HR or is it normal for it to take a little longer to hear back from them? Also I've seen lots of people talking about checking there progress online, can anybody help me find the site I can check it on? Sorry If I've asked any silly questions Thanks in advance

I was wondering (sorry if a bit of a bad question) but as a PC would you be based at any of the police contact points, for example if I was given Lambeth as my borough would I just be based at just a regular police stations or could I be based at a contact point here is what I mean: http://content.met.police.uk/Borough/Lambeth/Contact%C2'> So could I be based at Cavendish Road police station for example? Thanks Fizzypopbang

What are peoples view on arresting for a minor offence when there is no valid necessity test as per IDCOPPLAN, but the offender is a prolific one. I have been advised that an arrest could still be made on the basis that there could be a requirement to specify a bail condition, for example not to enter certain areas where the prolific offences are committed until such time he or she attends court. Personally having read Code G of PACE, I cannot see this as being a valid reason. Views?

So, I'm not sure about other boroughs but mine has a distinct lack of IPS officers which is due to decrease even more with the up coming MSC to PC recruitment. By asking around and witnessing first hand, I've noticed that there's a vicious cycle when it comes to people getting IPS. There are so few IPS officers to share out the load, that all IPS officers tend to do is supervise newer people. After speaking to several they explain that this isn't a problem in itself and on the whole they're happy to help, however when it's almost every shift it can become a bit of a burden and they don't feel like they're getting to do as much, therefore aren't putting in as many hours …

Hi, I applied for the specials back in May. All was going well until February when I saw that my application had been terminated! I called them and they told me that they had sent me an email in November saying that they needed me to edit my forms due to a mistake I had made. I DID NOT receive this email. Anyway, they put me back on track and restarted my application; however I was now 3 months behind schedule. I was therefore supposed to start training in April not Feb. Now the April training has been cancelled and I am told that I am not going to receive my training until the recruitment freeze is over (earliest of July), because of a mistake they made by not contacti…

Hi Hope somebody can help with a bit of advice. Have recieved the offer to start training at Hendon 31st March, but where do you stay? I understand that onsite accomodation is no longer an option, but are you expected to book into a hotel for 15 weeks, take a short term let within traveling distance or commute, which from the northwest is not an option. This must be a problem that comes up on a regular basis as courses are running frequently, how have others dealt with this? Also is there a department I can contact or information I can access that gives a list of approved providers. I have not been informed which borough I am being asigned to so can't really look in th…

Can someone help me out. I never bothered to submit fuel claims before as I had claims bounced for conflicting reasons by different previous supervisors. Is the below correct: The fuel receipt amount MUST be for more or equal to the amount of mileage claimed. The receipt MUST be printed for the month claimed (ie you couldn't attach a January 2014 receipt for a March 2014 mileage claim) You CANT use the same fuel receipt to cover 2 or 3 consecutive months (ie I fill my car up in January, only use I sparsely so have no need for additional fuel during that time).

It is my thought that the only way to save the decline of the MSC, is the promotion and support for career specials,.Specials who are joining to just become regulars, should be placed on response teams straight and left there, Therefore not taking the time and support away for officers who want to grow as career specials and give more back to the MSC. Another thought is you should only be allowed to apply for the regulars after 6 years MSC service, at least this will stop the grain of officers to regulars and means that the MSC will have a dedicated pool career officers

If you are interested in joining the regulars please register your intereste by visiting this website: http://www.metpolicecareers.co.uk/ckp/ You have till the 4th of July 2013. When I registered my interest, I was told by HR, "you will need to have completed CKP and have it in hand by December to be eligable to start training in Febuary 2014. This all depends if you pass application sift, day 1 and 2 and vetting". Have you registered? FYI: I created this topic again because the one I created before got locked.
