Hi folks, Sorry if this has been mentioned in another post! What should we buy/make sure we have before training such as boots, tracksuits (waterproof or is fleece ok?), trainers, kit bags etc?. Just want to make sure I'm all prepared!

Hi All, The Met has just today started externally recruiting Security Officers For Palace Of Westminster. http://www.metpolicecareers.co.uk/policestaff/security_officer.html The pay is £18,728 + £3,466 + £4,179 ((20% shift allowence) = £26,373. Which means a person in this job will earn £1,529 NET a month. 10% pension contribution has already been deducted in the calculations. Has anyone applied for this job? Will anyone tomorrow apply for this job?

As above, just wanted to have a chat with one about the role and see what the shift pattern is like if possible?

Hi there guys, First of all i did search for the answer of my question but could not find specific information. I apologize if i have missed it. I am really looking in to joining as a Special for the Met as a gateway through joining as a Regular. I have researched the role deeply and have looked at just about everything. I just had one more question regarding expenses as I will be volunteering and I dont want to be out of pocket whilst doing so, I wanted to know what expenses can a special in the met claim e.g Petrol, boots etc. and how much can they claim? Hi folks, New to the forum!. I start my training in March and just completed all necessary vetting forms which have been accepted and passed. My employers have just been asked for a reference. My reference should be glowing however I have been unlucky with sickness recently (not last 6 months but before) but this is now eventually being treated with medication and I am perfectly able bodied for police work. Do you think my bad sickness on my reference questionnaire will affect me being a special or is it more a problem if it was for a PC role?. I can imagine for a PC role it would be taken more seriously but I'm not sure about MSC as it's voluntary.. Thank you all in ad…

I'm shortly going to be joining Hounslow borough as a Reg. Was just looking to see what life is like for anyone who's joined recently or currently doing their probation there? Also my transport options are extremely limited, what's the parking situation like in the surrounding areas during the day and at night? I did perform a search but information I found was over 2 years old so situations may have changed? Many thanks

Hi Guys, I have passed the two stages and am tentatively enrolled for the course starting 10th Feb (Hybrid). Although I know my references are checked but the vetting still remains to be done. Does anyone know how long before the training start date do we get to know the results for vetting? Also is there any pre-reading to be done before one starts their training? Anyone seen the new Ford Focus Estate IRVs about? Feedback I have heard is that drivers are on the whole quite pleased with it and think it is better than the Hyundai in terms of space and ride quality especially over speed bumps! Think it looks pretty good too.
