Just received an email today stating that due to the need to recruit more PCs the Met's resources are being focused on them, meaning the specials recruitment process is paused. They said not to email them as they do not know when the freeze will be lifted. I am really gutted, have been waiting for a day 2 and now have to wait most probably till summer. Anyone else received this email or has any news about when the main PC recruitment will end?

Hi there, I received an email confirming when and where to collect uniform and kit (Mandela). I was just wondering if anyone could give me their opinions/clarification on a couple of bits, if so I'd be very grateful! Being that it is deep in London, and despite the email claiming to have "ample parking", I was wondering what is the most convenient way (for me) to travel to the building and back - public transport? (I'd be coming in from just outside London, likely via Waterloo which is conveniently close, but it's an expensive ticket!), getting a lift? (I fear that if someone gave me a lift, they wouldn't be allowed past the gate or something) or just driving myself the…

Hello Everyone, My name is Louise. I am very new here so forgive me if I am writing in the wrong section!! I have just recently applied to become a Special for the Met Police in or around my borough, I have applied before (Last Year) & failed my written test due to feeling like i have just dived into the deep end with not having a clue of what I am supposed to do. I didn't attend no pre-assessment day and so I was unaware of what to expect on my arrival. Anyway, I have been reading the books, watching the DVDs etc but I am still very confused as to how I obtain help for the day 1 assessment written test. HELP!! :/

Just a reminder about the forum's policy on swearing and profane language. I didn't write the rules, but the rules are that swearing is not acceptable on this forum other than in a direct quote. This includes swearing disguised with the cunning use of punctuation or reduced to a catchy three letter abbreviation. For clarity, this includes the TLA of "TJF" ... we all know what it means. I'm fairly sure that it has been uttered since the passing of the Metropolitan Police Act 1829, and the job quite possibly is. However, the phrase is appearing with increasing frequency, often within this section of the forum. It is attracting the attention of the moderating team, and…

Just to let you guys know who are hoping to get on this latest batch of recruitment. They are now planning on merging the Day 2 into Day 1 to make it an even shorter time frame for recruitment. Whether or not this happens this round of recruitment I do not know but it is pretty likely. Source came from the Deputy Chief Officer of Specials and was passed down I believe.

Not sure how long this has been up and whether or not this has been posted elsewhere but just came across this on the Met website. Looks like they're looking for 2 Assistant Chief Officers for the MSC. http://www.metpolicecareers.co.uk/mscchiefofficer/ Is this how they normally advertise such roles? I assumed there would be some kind of internal recruitment..... unless there already has been?

Would they support me or not? Thanks, Ty

I seem to remember a previously thread where this was discussed but I can't seem to locate it so I'll put this out there again... Received a letter today from HMRC regarding the BR tax code in relation to what we are "paid" by MOPAC. It states that BR will mean we pay 20% tax on our "income" from MOPC. Did anyone get to the bottom of this, as technically we obviously don't get paid and I would hope that the monies we receive are classed as expenses. I believe we may have needed to contact someone in finance about it? Thanks Bman

Hi, I should start my specials training in April, hopefully to be attesting by May, yay! I want to become a regular as soon as possible after this. I understand the requirements to apply for the regulars (e.g. 12 months as a special, IPS and 200 hours). But I have been unable to find any information on the process and I have a few questions: 1) Is there a different process for internal candidates, and if so what does this involve? 2) How long does the process for a regulars application take whilst serving as a special? I understand the process for a new constable application will take an estimated 12 months, will this be shorter as an internal candidate? 3) Am I right…

Hello, ive been working with a few probationers during my MSC shifts and nearly everyone I ask hates the job. Things like too much workload, being thrown into the deep end without a lot of guidance and don't have much of a life outside the job. Any others hear or experience the same thing?

Since many of us are preparing to attend training courses I thought of creating this thread. So there is a proposed strike action this week and next week. I got this email from TFL. This week its from 4th (evening) to 7th (morning) and next week from 11th (evening) to 14th (morning) Please make alternative travel arrangements if this disrupts your travel plans! I am writing to share our provisional plans for what we will run on each Tube line during the two 48–hour strikes, called by the RMT and TSSA unions. If the strikes go ahead, Tube services will be affected from: …
