Was just thinking about this earlier and I was a bit curious as to what the most common mistake people make when declaring things for vetting?

Hi everyone, I've got my first shift on Borough tomorrow, and I'm going to be travelling by train. I'm a little confused about the travel entitlement, so wouldn't mind a bit of guidance. I'm travelling from Chelmsford to Ilford, and will be changing at Stratford. Both services are run by greater anglia. I know I can't use my warrant card for Chelmsford to Stratford, but can I travel on it from Stratford to Ilford? Thanks, Ben

I have just found out that my training will now be done in Richmond, I bet it's a lovely place but I live 2 minutes from Hendon Training school so I am not pleased at all. I was wondering if anyone has done there training there and can tell me a little about it? Is there any parking close by? and a train station? I guess It's just anoying because I was always told I would be at Hendon which was fantastic because it is so close to me. Atleast I got my chosen Borough Sorry if I have come across as ungreatful, I'm glad everything is okay but I guess I'm just a little let down Thanks

Who'll be so nice and tell me how to book onto L3 PO training on AWARE?

Are they once per month at the moment? Conjecture and educated guesses are welcome, it's better that the "subject to changes of circumstances" I tend to get from calling people up. I found out that somebody that applied externally at the same time as me got offered a start date in May, yet I've not even had my Day 1 - apparently because I was a special in the Met and they've been sitting on their hands rather than getting a reference from my supervisor - so it would be good to know whether I missed the boat for a month or half a year. Cheers!

Evening all, Apologies if the tattoo query has been done to death already, it is just that this is a more specific question. ( I appreciate that nobody can give a definitive answer, but I would be grateful for any opinions). I am currently in the process of filling in my application form for the MPS (regular) and have been asked to upload images of my tattoo. It is a full sleeve tattoo. I don't believe that it is in anyway lewd, crude. racist etc, but it does have a catholic religious theme to it. I'm slightly worried that as this is to a certain religion, it may be viewed upon negatively. I have to say that I have had nothing but positive feedback on the tattoo since h…

Hi Everyone. So I passed my final KEE 3 yesterday and am due to attest next Sunday providing I don't get struck down by lightening or something (would be just my luck for this to happen :new_doh2: )! I am unbelievably excited and can't wait to get out there, I've got my induction booked with my Sgt for the 15th, but I just wanted some advice before I do start. Is there anything anyone would recommend me doing/learning/buying etc. before I go out on borough? Is there anything you wished you'd done/learnt/bought before your first day out on borough? Or is there any other advice anyone can give me before getting out there? Cheers Ben

Hi, I have been thinking recently that I would like to step up and take on a role as a special constable. With potentially the view to moving into a full time Police Constable role if I like the work. I'm posting here to ask for advice that anyone who has/is working in the Metropolitan Police might be able to offer. Firstly I want to be sure my reasons for joining are the right reasons. I won't lie and say that the idea of arresting people and racing around with blue flashing lights etc is not one of the appeals, but my main reasons for joining are as follows. Firstly I was once a victim of an assault where a gang of 10 + individuals from my school attacked me in an u…

I was just thinking about this, I've passed my day 1 and 2 assessment and just awaiting vetting so my training dates can be confirmed and I'm a bit curious, how soon am I likely to begin training and is it possible to change the dates? I'm a student and with the TA, plus going on holiday in July so time will be very tight to take over three weeks off for training. I've applied with the london met btw

Original link here - BBC And if you go to the original story there is a short news clip showing off EK's best looking and heroic officers using the camera. :D And someone from Big Brother Watch being a bit of a downer. Had the training for this the other day - Seems like a really snazzy bit of kit! Straightforward to use & the software to upload and review the footage seems quite good as well remarkably! Are you looking forward to getting your BWV? I must admit I was a bit wary about getting one, as I feel it does devalue your word a bit and worry it may create a situation where unless it's caught on video you won't be believed. But according to the trainers…

Hey guys, I wanted to know if one is allowed to be a Police Officer and Events Steward at the same time or if it's a conflict of interest.

Hello everyone, Got my first day 1 assessment for the specials this week at Earls court, London. I have only two days to prepare. Feeling a little nervous of course which is normal :new_yes: But if there is any advice or shared experiences anyone can give me that would be great! Much appreciated. Many Thanks

I am a PC and I am looking to further my skills in the work place. This question is mainly for officers who work in safer transport command. I have seen PC's on my borough who were specials in STC and all obtained courses from the unit. Sorry just hearing rumours about loads of courses, so I am curious. So my question..... Are driving courses available? How long do you have to wait?

Hello All, I am currently in the recruitment process of becoming a Special for the Met, however the process seems to be taking forever. I have successfully passed my Day 1, have attended my Day 2. As far as I am aware, I have passed my medical and fitness (however, I did find out I have a colour deficiency!) but the rest seems to be taking forever. Our recruitment was paused for around 3 weeks (the day before my Day 2), which was in February. I was told to expect a reply within 7 weeks after the Day 2, however 7 weeks went a long time ago, but presuming you add the 3 weeks delay on it would be 10 weeks (which was last week!). I do not really want to phone up HR, as s…

Hey all, Quick question - is there anyone else on this site due to start training on the 11th May with their first day being at Hendon, and then at Sidcup for the rest of training? Regards SCXBVPC1
