Hi all, First of all apologies if this is the wrong forum to post this in, I did think of posting this in general discussion but felt it would be more suited in this subforum as it is to do with the London area that is controlled by the MET. After months of waiting I finally received my vetting back with everything OK and been offered the position and given a start date as a member of police staff, which I will be based in the Sydenham area. I have been looking at flats/studios to rent in the area and also Croydon (are all the bad stories about that place true?) and haven't quite found something I'm looking for (something modern yet affordable) as I do not currently ha…

Do you Met officers ever point to point each other? Whenever I have cause to switch to a Met radio channel there's a lot of talk about 'going over to the spare channel' to have a private talk about something. Do your radios actually have the capability to P2P?

Does anyone know why Msconline has not been working since Friday night, and are you having the same error 404 page not found. Thanks

I have just had my vetting cleared and will be given a start date over the next few days to join the Met as a regular PC, but what happens next? I have been told nothing, I'm not from London and unsure on various issues. 1. During initial training, do we live in Hendon? 2. How long is the initial training? 3. Do the police have any out-houses they rent to officers? Not being from London I'm obviously worried if accommodation is not provided or support provided, I'll end up in a hell hole. Any advice/guidance will be gratefully received. Cheers, Nick

Hey again guys, Curiosity kicks in again. My friend was showing our mutual friend (who is looking to join) his warrant card to look at and as my mate was showing him it he was holding on to it in a way that our friend couldn't have the warrant card wallet in his hands and our friend said "don't worry mate im not going to steal it" and my friend then said it's illegal to give someone your warrant card. By give I mean to hold it in their hands. Can anyone confirm this is true? Cheers!

Hi just a quick one for those that have already done it, I'm just wondering what to expect.. (its the three day one) Hows the course laid out and what vehicles do they make you drive? Also is it all delivered internally or do you have to go to a DSA centre for the test? Thanks!

I was just wondering, and no this is not another topic asking 'I was just wondering what borough should I choose' but rather how does it currently work for a Met PC's choosing which borough they want to work in, I have heard from some that you just choose 3 boroughs and they will give you one of your 3 or that there is a list of areas e.g. Bromley, Greenwich, Bexley and you have to choose 3 sets of these areas, if so do you then get to choose one of the 3/2 that you are given and does anyone have the list? Then do you get to choose what station you go to once you know where you are going or is that pot luck? I am a junior member, so you're probably thinking, why does he n…

I'm considering a career with the MET. I'd be very keen to hear peoples experiences that have started their PC training. I'm also interested in peoples experiences during and once they have finished their probation, what roles were available?,was there training courses available and what type? During your probation do you go on attachments with other units? Finally is the time scale to join a specialist team ten years? Cheers.

Hi, Just a quick question, I am being attested on Sunday at Hendon 8/6. I understand the dress order but just wanted to know if you're supposed to wear boots or shoes with the tunic? Any guidance is much appreciated.

Hey guys, wanted to get something cleared up and figured this would be the place to come to. I recently passed my day 2 for the MSC role and am now on to the vetting and refrences stages of the application. Just to give some context to this post, im 19 and currently in Uni. Around 2-3 years ago i was fresh out of school and into a college of around 4000-6000 strong population of students and to put in bluntly; i didnt enjoy it. It started off fine and finally got to a point where i wasnt enjoying attending college or certain classes and this in turn lead to adsence's. All that aside, my attendence want perfect, but it wasnt too bad either. To cut a long story short, afte…

I was told that because of a holiday I have booked, I could start on the 28th July police training course. I was then told that they had since been informed that this course was a non MSC intake and so, could I start on the 30th June. I then received an email which I believe got sent to everyone, telling me that they have a course commencing on 30th June and another on 28th July and to reply with my full name and date of birth and which course I would like to be considered for so that a conditional offer can be sent. I replied saying if possible, I'd like to be considered for the 28th July course. It's now nearly been 2 weeks and I still haven't heard anything and have si…

Firstly HI. I am new to the forum and was hoping for some advice and support throughout my application. Alittle about me. I am 26 a mum of three girls and at the moment working full time Monday to Friday as a dental nurse. I've wanted to join the police for along time but circumstances have hindered me. I feel now my children are older and I am currently in a stable job this is the best time for. I am intending of join the special constables to then join the regular police. My husband did the same with the army and the reserves and feels this gives me a great insight to ensure it is right for me. I am a regular at the gym and ride to and from work so fitness wise I am rea…
