In an environment where cost saving is high on the agendas, and PC are being asked to perform more tasks to allow for downsizing of control room staffing, has anyone considered that it may be more cost effective to increase control room support and free up the PC on the street. I can understand that if management reduce staff in a control room there is a direct and measurable saving. The implications to name a few that come to mind, A PC waiting by his radio longer for a response to a PNC. Support being too busy to contact a victim or other and offering to supply the PC with telephone numbers for them to carry on. It is difficult to measure the increase in time for the…

Hi everyone. Some advice I'm looking for regarding a family member who I have to declare on my vetting form. My question is under the rehabilitation of offenders act would any conviction they have had be "Spent" after 5 years thus allowing me to be CLEARED the vetting process. Furthermore if this third party had a custodial sentence would it be classed as "Spent" after 5 years. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys, Just wondering is anyone else due to start on September 29th? Would be good to start general chit chat to get to swap some ideas or questions! I myself am moving from Northern Ireland so it will be an adventure, especially when sorting out accommodation!! Is everyone reporting to Hendon on our first day? Is there any hints to which borough we will be posted? wish i could learn sooner as it would be much easier to find suitable accommodation that way! We should all start a whattsapp group aswell! Hope your all well! See you all in September!

I was wondering anyone knows if taking antidepresants can stop you from applying internally from SC to PC? Do they not care at all, or maybe there are some restrictions that you can apply only several months after stopping taking them? Does taking them restrict me in anything as a Special? If I start taking them, do I have to inform the Met?

Evening guys and gals, my names Connor and I'm currently in my training as a Special in West Yorkshire, I've applied to become a new regular constable with the met, so I have just a few questions, firstly do they take into account what you scored on your SEARCH assessment as I scored quite highly in it 79%, and secondly I wondered if there are any serving specials or regs on here that are Irish, being from the Emerald Isle myself it would be great to get some advice from serving officers! Thanks Connor

As the title says I attended a day one assessment for the met in the autumn last year but was told I hadn't passed, by the time of finding out I had already started and was towards the end of my ckp course. After finding out I had failed I took the decision not to lose anymore money from missing work and stop doing the course. All was well about to start a retail management role when out of the blue the other day I got an email from the met saying they had reviewed how they score the search assessment and that I scored over the 50% that was needed and that I can now continue the recruitment process. Whilst I'm really happy this has happened it comes with it draw backs, …

I've recently been notified by HR that the intensive and Hybrid course is unavailable as they are reviewing the course. I was then booked on to a 6 month weekend course which finishes in February. I was also then told that my 1st AND 2nd choice in my chosen London borough's were too full and I was given my 3rd choice. I was wondering if there will be any chance before the end of my training course to be able to change the borough I was given? And also if I could be told whether my first choice in borough has become available? Thank you

Hey there, I'm new here so a quick hello to everyone. I'm currently working in a very different career to policing but I'm wanting to apply to the Met with a view to start in mid 2015. I've started the online application and have completed the first stage but, before I go any further, I wanted to check to see what the best course of action is. Basically I don't want to miss my opportunity to join the Met but I ideally don't want to stat training until April 2015 at the earliest due to commitments to my current job. If I complete the application and am successful, do I have the option to defer my training date or am I committed to starting as soon as I'm offered a place…

I know that the role play consists of 4 exercises which are: Two discussions about an incident that happened at the centre and, Two meetings whith someone from the centre about an incident (for example a security guard). How is a the meeting different from the discussion and, What should I be trying to achieve in the meeting with the role actor. Please help, thank you.

Can anyone who is or has recently taken the MET PC training course give a brief overview of the course? I'm not asking for course content, subjects as I imagine that would be restricted. More are there pass fail exams?
