Hi Does anybody know about the systolic/distolic readings the met will accept as part of the medical assesment. Has anyone been though the medical and had a slightly above normally reading but still been accepted? I have my medical next in the next 2 weeks. And I just wondered if anyone knew what the acceptable readings the met will take to pass?

Random thread I know. But the Male Policeman can either where the classic Bobby style or the other more normal one. What or who makes the decision on which one they wear? Does it depend on their duties and where they are posted? *I meant Hat not had, mistype!

So after a good 12 month wait. I have finally been offered training dates which have been both accepted and confirmed (Sunday weekend course that starts on the 19th of October, leave a comment if you're on it). Anyway, what happens now? What are usually the next steps before starting?

Sorry if this is the wrong area, it's more of just knowledge gaining, and yes I know there is google But the City of London Police are they genuine Police? And if so why is it always the London Metropolitan Police that everyone knows about. I hadn't even heard of the City of London Police until today, or seen them for that matter and I live in Hammersmith!!

Thought I would start a thread here now as the images thread seems to be getting clogged up with met chat I've heard that the new Volvo RT cars that's appearing on borough are still just test cars. Does anyone know the truth behind it?

Hi guys, I have my Day 2 next week, so I'm going through the paperwork at the moment. Currently I'm working on an Anti-Fraud team for a Local Authority. At the moment I'm an apprentice, assisting with investigations by carrying out searches through databases and conducting PACE interviews as a second officer. In the next month I'm being moved on to carry out my own investigations into fruad within the borough, mainly Social Housing fraud. Currently my role isn't a conflict of interest, however I think with taking on these investigations it will then move into a conflict as they will be criminal investigations. My main concern is that HR fail my application due to the co…

Hello everyone, I applied/registered my interest to become a special with the metropolitan police about two/three weeks ago and I was just hoping if anyone knows how long it takes to hear back? I logged into the online portal and it just says "Thank you for submitting your application to become a Metropolitan Specials Constable. We will be contacting you soon to let you know what happens next"

Good Morning everyone! I have finally been given a start date with the MET (27th October) after 4 years of trying for the regs in a different force where I am a Special Constable. After my training I have been posted to Newham. I was just wondering if anyone on here works there? Or know what its like? Is it busy? Quiet? Fun? . L

While scouring the cupboards for process books the other day I came across Crime Investigation Books. Handy little books to fill in when taking the initial crime reports and statements for basic crimes where the victim wasn't present, ie stolen vehicles. It looks like a small handover pack for secondary investigators to use. I've never seen any announcements about them. Anyone used one? Or know why they came about? Having looked at them they look quite a useful little book.

Local students create fly on the wall documentary around the Met Five students from Barking and Dagenham College have created a film highlighting the work undertaken by local officers in the community. The students brief was to capture a true reflection of the work local police do each day, highlighting the various roles and departments involved in fighting crime and engaging with the local community. The film also depicts the positive work undertaken by the borough over the past 12 months. The students aged 18 to 24 are studying on the BTEC Higher National Diploma in Creative Media Production. After agreeing the live brief (a real life assignment as opposed to train…

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has joined the Met police from the Army? If so, did you have any problems deferring the start date as I have not yet signed off. Thanks Nick

Hi all, I have been wondering about a few things, and what to expect through training and my first two years. How well does the training given enhance you and develop you into a MOP to a police officer? Does it build confidence etc, as Im sure your aware new recruits will be nervy. What to expect on borough after training? Such as support and guidance from fellow officers? Are you on shift with the same officers/team or are you all muddled up and thrown from pillar to post? What am I to expect from the LPM? And finally any help on a borough choice would be great, any ideas which are really supportive towards new officers? Thanks in advance guys if any of you…
