I have applied to become a met police special constable and have my DAY1/2 in a couple of days (On the same day). I have been emailed a number of forms to fill in. Here is the situation: I am living at home with my parents, my farther is a security guard for retail stores. Will this be a problem and do I need to mention it in the business interest form ? Thank you

Hi guys, i'll be starting training at Hendon at the end of November and was wondering if you guys have any general tips for the time training there that could help out? Any advice at all, no matter how small, would be appreciated! Also, whats the parking like around there? I read a post in these forums about parking in a uni that was close but that was from 2009 and things may have changed since then? Thanks!

Hi all, I have applied to become a special constable and I have my day 1 on the 9th February 2015. The Met police may reopen recruitment for regular officers around March. Can I quit with the specials at any time even if I have started training or even completed it? # My fear is this I become a special constable and have to go down the internal route in order to become a regular. The internal route requires a special constable to achieve IPS and have completed a minimum of 200 hours in order to be eligible to apply for the role of regular constable without the need of CKP qualification. (This may take time) As a special Can I apply for regulars even if I have not g…

The Internal route is this: Achieving ips and 200hours service minimum are the eligibility requirements for special wanting to become a regular. Meeting these requirements and being a special you do not need the CKP qualification. Can a special still apply for regulars externally without achieving ips and 200hourse service? (Obviously this will mean I need to obtain CKP... Am I right or wrong)

Hi guys! After discovering you can no long apply to join the MET as a new constable if you live outside of London (I live 4 miles out, London? sorry never been there?) can you still go through the route of applying to be a special and then after 200 hours, IPS and once recruitment opens, can you apply? Or is the new rule for any new inspiring PC? SC or not! Thanks

I'm having a problem getting out for my first shift, I attested a couple weeks back and I am being told that because I don't have a locker I can't go on duty. I don't have a sergeant as he has just transferred borough and trying to get hold of my inspector is impossible and when I do all I get is "I'm at the station tomorrow, I'll look into it for you" and then he doesn't follow up and this is happening to another 3 new guys who attested with me. It's frustrating and I don't know where to turn or who to speak to as I don't want to be seen to be kicking up a fuss, but I do want to get out there supporting my colleagues as soon as possible and I would of thought they could …

A bit of a long shot... Does the Met teach you to drive? As in from not driving to getting your full licence. Cheers

Hey everyone - really sorry if there is another section/thread for this question. I've completed my PC day 1 & 2 and passed both, with my day 2 being in October, and called vetting at the start of December who confirmed I had passed the checks. Since I called in December I have heard absolutely nothing about a start date/progress - and if I hadn't called in December my last contact with them was at my day 2 in October. I've tried calling the generic recruitment number which now advises you to email, which I have also done twice in the past 3 weeks to no response. Is anyone else in the same situation? Or have any idea why I haven't heard anything? Any info/thou…

Ladies and Gents, After some advise and guidance really, I am currently a serving Special Sergeant with the British Transport Police and a member of the Control Room for the same force. On Thursday I have my assessment day for the MSC to hopefully transfer across. I actually live fairly far away from London however after growing up in London and being apart of the Met Police Cadets I feel this is a good move both personally and developmentally. What I am after is if anyone knows if I would be able to hold my current rank as Special Sergeant or if this would be taken from me assuming I am successful, also, does any one know if I will need to complete the whole training…
