I'm guessing this topic may have been done to death. I'm interested to hear from anyone serving in the TA based in London regiments, who work for a police service. I'm considering signing up, but just wanted a an idea of the hours/days you have to do. I've heard some forces can see it as a problem whilst others are very positive. Any general info experiences would be appreciated.

Driving without due care Apologies if the following is going to sound silly but just wondering if anyone can offer some advice. I am conducting a voluntary attendance interview on Saturday in relation to an RTC a few weeks ago. To give you a quick idea vehicle 1 was travelling along the main road when at a staggered T junction (no requirement for vehicle 1 to give way or stop) Vehicle 2 stopped at the give way line and then pulled out in front of vehicle 1 causing the accident( according to witnesses). All drivers are ok just minor injuries both cars are right offs. I am interviewing driver of vehicle 2 and while I have been in the job for a few years I have never done an…

Hi, I was summoned as a jury to the court. Letter mentioned that i was randomly picked from the electoral register. I am actually quite interested , however i am about to start training as Special Constable and i am also applying externally as regular. Question is whether i am allowed to become a jury as well as police constable? Many thanks

Hello guys, I was just wondering what you would say it takes from an individual to pass in training to get attested? For example; Dedication, Passionate about the job, intelligence, etc etc? Or a bit of everything? Thanks

As we all know , frontline SIA Licenced tasks such as Door Supervision isn't allowed if you're a special. But is stewarding such as that you see at events allowed? Stewards don't really form a security function as such (Knowing from experience as having worked as a Security Officer before) , they do not much more than show you to your seat and directions etc... , usually in the case that something does kick off, they call in the heavy mob and radio in for Security. Also are you allowed to work as a Private Security CCTV operative? Even if you are SIA licenced for the role of CCTV? (Note if you are SIA licenced for CCTV... you cannot do anything else legally by way of secu…

Does anyone know of any good and up to date sources/books/webpages that provide guidance for building case files? I've found the odd thing on NCALT but nothing in depth, and it's not anything we've received training on during our IL4SC training when we first joined apart from writing statements. I have done small files for traffic offences, but I would like instruction on how to build files that may be needed for more serious/complex prosecutions. I have National File Standard guidance, but I need more information to supplement this.

If any of you work out of Slough/Heathrow/Hounslow copshops, please pass on my thanks to the traffic cop that pulled me the other day in Heathrow Airport. I'd just bought a car a little VW Lupo from somewhere in Slough, the previous evening I had done an internet search for insurance for it and booked a comp policy costing £674, I bought the car the following morning. Driving home it got flagged as no insurance so I got pulled. This young man checked the paperwork and was happy I had paid etc. but he was a bit worried about it and advised me to check it more closely myself. I'm glad he did because I found it to be a total ripoff. and had to arrange yet another policy …

Reading the current thread about why people leave the police has been getting me a bit down. I'm an SC going through the regs recruitment process and feel like I need a bit of a pick me up, so...... what do you enjoy about what you do / what are you looking forward to when you start?

As the first year at college closes and my first year review approaches I am to look at university planning now... Seeing as I hope to be a reg one day and I am in the Specials (or will be very very soon) but need a good paying job to support me whilst in uni... I was wondering what kind of related jobs can a special get into? Which ones could the skills gained by a police officer be handy in whilst broadening my police and security experience? Baring in mind I intend to continue as an SC and it has to be something that I am allowed to do. Regards TC
