I heard this on a radio phone in show recently. It relates to a heated debate that was in full swing about reports of officers having to wait at the outer cordon area during the Woolwich incident....This was said "Every Police Officer should have the equipment to defend themselves and members of the public from ANY threat".....Do you agree with this statement?

A simple question, but not one, I fear, with a simple answer..... Does visible police activity and operation engender confidence in the community or does it, on the other hand, instill insecurity and a perception of "high crime"? This was something that was brought into contrast for me today: we had had a few complaints and pieces of intelligence relating to drugs at an address. We had executed a warrant there a few months ago and found a small amount of drugs. There was more recent intelligence to suggest drug use and dealing linked to the address again so I went back to the Magistrates who agreed to issue another warrant. We executed that warrant this morning and foun…

There's a video doing the rounds about a police officer in Honolulu making a 'spectacular' arrest at the airport. The off-duty officer was just about to through security screening and had taken his shoes off when a woman started causing violent trouble elsewhere and the officer leapt over a barrier and wrestled her to the ground - wearing just his socks. I guess he probably wasn't thinking too much about it when he jumped the barrier and ran to help but would you have thought twice about doing something like that without any shoes on? Ever made an arrest or leapt into action in your socks?

Hi, As the title suggests I am looking for generic advice and pointers for when you go to court as an SC / PC.I have been warned a couple of times but never been myself so I would be interested to hear what other people have to say about it. Cheers!

So I was browsing Youtube and I came across these videos. I find it interesting how some things have changed, how they are talking about changing things that are now changed and how things might not have changed. Also I found it interesting being that its my town and it looks not too different. Take a look: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/3nm5RlamH3A" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/gjyGrMPMehM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Seems the embedding isn't working or I'm just a technophobe... here are the links

Ok so I have searched but not many answers seem to be clear. Who can actually use a green light? I understand they're not used for exceptions from the law and to just clearly mark out that a "doctor" is on call. Now, can anyone else use a green light on their vehicle for on call situations such as doctors, community first responders and so on. What is the actual law on this?

After scoring extremely high on Sussex's behaviour test I have sceptically failed the situation awareness test. Do you think they are a positive thing or are online tests a barrier for good potentially good officers who just can't suss them out?

I've been accepted for the assesment centre next week for North Yorkshire. If I'm not nervous enough I am also concerned about the vetting stage. My brother was convicted of driving under the influence of drugs and therefore spent time on prison. If I was lucky enough to pass the assesment centre do you think my brothers past convictions will go against me?

I am a member of police staff working on the weekends part time as I look after my 2 year old daughter Monday-Friday. I witnessed an incident at a police station along with 11 other officers. The defendant has denied charges and it goes to court next week. Witness care found out on the 17th May the court dates and gave us a court warning on 24th. Of a four day trial. I explained my circumstances they told me (and my manager) to not arrange childcare for all the days as that would be unnecessary as I would only be needed for a few hours on one day and would know the exact day a week beforehand. No problem, I can arrange for a family member to look after my daughter. …
