Should the police be investigating? Neither have made a complaint. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/nigella-lawson-attacked-husband-see-1955564

After reading a thread in the TVP section it got me wondering: which forces allow Specials to be trained to do suspect interviews? Hampshire do this as part of post independence training and I must admit, it's very useful. So what force are you from and can you do suspect interviews?

Got mine tomorrow, anyone else here doing it? I have been nowhere near as disciplined with my study as I was with my OSPRE Sgts Part 1 due to having very little time, I'm hoping I can still scrape it though.

I think it would be interesting to know how often we each have to use each bit of our PPE and then compare that with a few details about ourselves. So: What is your rank? Are you based in a busy urban, suburban or rural area? Is your nearest backup typically less than 10 minutes or more than 10 minutes? How often do you wear your stabvest? How often do you use your handcuffs? How often do you use your CS/PAVA spray? How often do you use your baton? If issued, how often do you use your taser? *****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************…

Sorry for the new topic but I've tried using search and cannot find anything. I've left my revision material elsewhere and was just wondering, when you arrest someone you have to search them to 'DIE' for... Can anyone shed some light on what the DIE means and how it is used in practice following an arrest? Is it after every arrest or just certain ones? Many thanks

Ive been reading through my NPIA short notes book (not short at all!) for next weeks lesson, and have been reading Hate Crime, however its says that Hate Crime is a criminal offence but Hate Incidents are not. Could anyone please elaborate on what the difference between them are? Possibly some examples? Thanks!

Hi all, Quite a lot of people have shared bits on Facebook recently about Police being caught using their phones whilst driving, on-duty and in a Police Vehicle got me to wondering what the law and guidance is about Police Officers using their phones in vehicles etc. I know that Officers dont have to wear seatbelts in the course of their duties but whats the procedures around mobile phone use?

So quite recently my force has opened up positions for Special constables to become instructors / trainers. They're role would be training other SC's in PST and law. What are your opinions on this? I am quite interested but I am worried it is simply a cost saving exercise and potentially quite risky having staff who are not full time, and therefore won't have the same level of skill and knowledge to deliver training as good as a regular.

My force and others only seem to recruit people in their early twenties with a university type background..This does not represent the community that I live and work in, in any way at all. I cant see much difference between this and the nonsense the Met are thinking about. It is all very wrong...Police recruitment should be open to anyone that passes an initial entrance test, with no qualifications needed before you can even apply...end of!!

did not know were to post this,so i will post it here. http://m.scotsman.com/news/commonwealth-games-security-firms-to-net-contracts-1-2828791 PRIVATE security firms are set for a £60 million Commonwealth Games bonanza as Police Scotland says it will be unable to provide full protection for the thousands of sports fans due to gather in the country next year. Police chiefs admit they will rely heavily on external companies such as G4S, even though the firm failed to recruit enough staff to cover the 2012 London Olympics and had to be bailed out by the army and police forces around the UK.

Hi all got a question that been on my mind for a while... why do people leave the police? I'm asking because I know quite a few H/O officers are transfering to the CNC.....what is wrong with H/O roles? I also know quite a few people have left the Police to work in Tescos, Asda and specsavers! Surely this must be a shock after the benefits/pay the police provides them with.. Thanks

I heard on the radio yesterday that ACPO President (Sir Hugh Ord?) has asked for a review into the PCC's autocratic authority on hiring and firing CC's. Do you think this is a step in the right direction? I do, and not before time!
