Hello, I was just wondering if anyone could shed some light on a query I have. What happens if you have your pre-booked annual leave cancelled to attend court even if you went through the correct procedures e.g. keeping updated MG10's? Can you claim back expenses for a holiday you have already paid for beforehand? If so who pays for it, the MET or CPS? It says on the CPS website that they do not give back expenses to "police officers (from Forces in England and Wales) attending in their official capacity;". Yet I have read on this forum (http://www.policespecials.com/forum/index.php?/topic/108177-leave-cancelled-to-attend-court/?hl=%2Bjapan+%2Bseptember#entry1856377) th…

Hi all, this is my first post here. As a bit of background my grandfather was a copper in the Met from 1968 until 1976 and my father was also in the job although I don't know how long for as he disappeared many years ago now. I'm just embarking on my own non police career though so won't be following in the family footsteps. My grandfather is always telling stories from his days although I'm never sure which ones are true and which are spiced up to make them sound a bit more outrageous but one thing he told me recently was that back in the 60's/70's there was always a sheet of rules given out to officers before they took part in public events. They were sort of do's an…

Hey everyone, Just wondered if anyone's doing their training at the moment? I don't start mine till July and I'm really curious as to what it's like! (Also getting slightly impatient...haha!) Thanks, Emilie

In theory could an off duty PC/SC have blue lighting fitted to his personal car?

I began to think of how many officers receive a thank you of any kind (beyond verbal to yourself). I had a MOP call the control room and left a message with Oscar One who relayed the message to me with that evening, which was nice to hear. Has anyone else had a similar encounter? Likewise has anyone had a gift returned because of impartiality and transparency?

I will soon start training as a Sc, and working full time driving a red route bus. I have opt to do my training on Sundays but I only get 1 Sunday each 3 weeks, therefore I need to take my annual leave to do the trainings on Sundays.( my other rest days are uncertain too) I have enquire my company about the ESP but they have never heard about it. My question is ...Can my employer support me for paid leaves to do the training without JOINING the Employer Support Policing , or must they join the ESP or inform them about it? http://content.met.police.uk/Site/esp

Can someone explain the law regarding having a previous address on your driving licence. Is it an offence to hold a previous address on your licence even when you don't drive? The previous address was a correspondance address and I can still get mail from there.

I "stumbled" upon this online and I was wondering why we do not have such an item issued? or at least kept in a store at the station, I have read a couple of reviews and it says it apparently works! http://www.security-discount.com/products/en/Defence-sprays/Other-sprays/Irritant-material-neutralisator-quotroom-skin-quot.html (By the way I am not suggesting I go and purchase it myself! or anyone else should!)

How annoying are they!! They Blind you when coming towards you, they blind you in your mirrors when they are behind you!! Why do people use them!!! I have noticed more recently that as peoples headlights are not maintained properly over the winter and while its still dark at 4pm that they are using fog lights!! (fog lights are the most annoying thing to me as a driver) Where to you stand on this, do you stop as many people as you can for this offence?? or are too many people using them that if you stopped them all you would never get anyway??

Good Evening all, I was having a dicussion with friends earlier today and thought I would run it through this site. Before I begin I'm not looking for legal advice or anything like that just an opinion. Ok, A few weeks ago GMP started to prosecute people for targeting goths, punks, emo or other alternative cultures as a hate crime. During the conversation it was brought up that it should be made illegal to wrongly target someone who has been accussed of being a Paedophile. Currently, just simply being called one is a civil matter and if it leads to physical attacks then it becomes a criminal case. I believe that it should be changed that if someone is just simply accu…
