Hello

So, something that has been on my mind for a few days now.

Having recently begun training as a special one of the first things to be looked at, has been the principle of the Officer Handbook and indeed the importance of using it where appropriate and as soon as practicable in order for it to be as accurate as possible.
Not just For our own recollection purposes but for our defence or indeed the defence of another should a situation arise at court requiring investigation into our handling or witness of an event.

Now, something that came to mind during this training was the use of pers…

Hello.. first time posting here! Few questions i'd like to ask regarding the British Transport Police.. 1. Comparing a Regular Special Constable & a BTP Special Constable, do they both use Sections for the laws, or do BTP use bylaws, and regular specials use Sections.. ? 2. I live in Warrington, Cheshire.. What force do I apply to? I am guessing it doesn't work like the home office police force (EG, if I live in Warrington, my local force would be Warrington, as the BTP do not only cover there own town. 3. As you can probably tell, I'm interesting in learning the laws, and as BTP is my interest, I am looking into learning more about the laws that will become u…

Anyone had any dealings with this new service? You can call them up or go online to report frauds now instead of reporting them straight to the police. They get looked at and sent to whichever enforcement unit needs to deal with them.

You know when you occasionally see someone in the street and you're not quite sure if they're a male or female, have you ever had to ask someone what gender they were on duty? Or got it wrong and been corrected?

Does anyone have any ideas when the normal large recruitment drives will take place again? I know it's hard for anyone to say but what year do you think it will get back to normal? What have you heard on the grape vine? :-)

Don't know if there has already been a topic on this video, and I also know how angry these types of videos makes the police... Just another example of camera wielding idiots thinking they know everything.. The description is also quite interesting; "Unfortunately we did not get when they first grabbed him on video because took us by surprise, they were hiding around the corner and jumped out while we weren't expecting it. He was riding a bicycle silently and peacefully along the road when they dragged him off of it and pushed him against the fence...this is when we started recording. They had stop searched 2 of us literally about 2 minutes prior to this with some bu…

We've had one flip of the coin so here's the other putting this out to members - what qualities do you admire in SC colleagues (or yourself) or makes you valuable to others in your opinion?

Hi all, I work for West Yorkshire Police currently as a SC, however I don't get issued with a BB (some SC's do get issued them (of the same rank as me) but i don't) I was just wondering if you can use your own BB and get force email set up on that because i'm only at my station to check emails twice a month or so! If not can you request one? I don't want access to anything more than me email, but i have no idea if you can get this set up on your own BB or whatever. Thanks in advance, Hannah x

Just a quick one, when a police car is stationary in the road infront of you displaying only rear flashing red lights is it illegal to overtake? I got stopped by a very overly aggressive power hungry police officer when I first passed my test who stated "You do NOT go past me when I am displaying red lights, there could be a body or anything lying in the road, how long have you been driving? If I see you do that again I WILL take you licence off of you" The reason in asking is I came across the same situation tonight driving home from work, all be it 8 years on from the first incident, a panda car was stationary in the road displaying only rear red lights (no tail light…

So I was just thinking... We have MDTs and in the near future these will be capable of receiving files sent remotely etc When a call taker sends a job to officers we often have scant details... In the future, we could have the initial call sent out to the MDT playable as an audio file...so officers attending can listen and perhaps pick up some vital details and get a sense of the scene they are heading to. I know for one that some of the jobs I have been sent to we get a call for one thing and then when you get back to the nick you check the log and there are details on there which would have aided you to know before you attended! What do we think? Too complicated? A…

I've looked at some of the other threads about being recognised off-duty, but they don't really answer my question. What excuses do you use when denying you're that 'copper / pig / other derogatory term' that they recognise? :new_thanks:
